v-max 2
Hi but a JR aint no retriever but they will but when you get him into rats he will have to learn quick to kill ASAP or get badly bitten by the rat. It will come naturally to kill/shake & look for the next target as they go mad for it & you normally get a few rats together. Quote Link to post

Ian my father had 4 jack rustels mate some of the best we had one that was no good for him he give up on it at 9 monthws old i had him by the age of 2 he was the best dog we ever had it is just time thats all. let your dog play and have its pupy hood then when its ready you will no. leave it for a year take it out with others let it see whats going on and you want go wrong you will end up with a dog that will tell you when the rabbits are there not you tell him. i no people that send there dogs it=nto bushes all the time mine want go in and tell you why they no there is nothing in there. when there is they look at me as if to say one in here lets get it. i take them with the ferret we get to a waren and i look at my dogs and if they dont bother with the holes i want ferret it and when there is rabbites in there i cant get them from it . you will see all this when yours is older. j davies 8
haha great stuff, im going to start training mine soon, hes coming up on 8months, only problem is, when hes with the our other dog, he goes death lol shes a rescue dog, and has never been trained at 12months she is more trained then him, only had her 3weeks lol all dogs are different when you take your dogs out every day you get to see what they can do watch them and you both learn together. had working dogs all my life and i can say this if any one has a good dog it will never ever be for sale. i had my first cocker 3 years ago took him out every day he bit his lead 4 times at the age of 6 months i said to my self fxxk this did not putt him on it and he was happy wak=lking next to me. at the age of 18 months i could go in the garage get my ferret box and away we go he worked the hedges and marked the holes when i take the air gun out he stays near me until i shot it then goes and gets it i did not tech him to do this its like he noes Quote Link to post
phil1964 1
i think your dog is to young to start training just yet . get him used to the lead first and sit on comand and stay . thats all he needs to learn for now . but if you do want to start training then do it in small lessions only 5mins aday and keep him on the same lession untill hes picked it up then move on to something else and conbine the next lession to the last one hes just got used to i have 3 springers one is just a house dog who does what she wants half the time as she the wifes dog . my dog is trained and i did start training the basics when he was young . my other springer is 9 months old and i havent even started training him yet . ok he knows the basics sit stay but thats it . good luck with it . its great fun teaching them .have lots of Pashents and your get there in the end Quote Link to post
