Rolfe 2
Putting this picture up on behalf of Dicktheleg on the Hunting Life. He sent me the picture for identification purposes and i told him what i thought it was from. It was in a stable and was approx 40mm long and 10mm wide and in a pool of urine as well. I would be interested in some other opinions as the dropping appeared to contain seed matter rather than insect matter. Rolfe Quote Link to post

OldTrapCollector 377
Hedgehog?? OTC Quote Link to post
Rolfe 2
Interesting replies there......deffinately not fox.........My Initial assumption was the same as OTC that it was a Hedgehog but i am open to other suggestions.........most of the stoat, weasel, mink, type droppings tend to have a tapered end so not sure if it is from the weasel family. zig zag wanderer 0
Did you prod it or poke it Rolfe? It lookes a bit damp for a hedgehog, they are usually dry and crumbly. If not it looks a bit bird like to me. I agree it doesn't look like mustelid, too squared off at the ends. Edited February 12, 2009 by zig zag wanderer Quote Link to post
fish 148
definity not stoat or weasel .yes mr prickles i think. Quote Link to post
zig zag wanderer 0
Looking at those sizes again 40mm x 10mm is far too big for hedgehog any way. Pushing it for a bird (forgive the pun ) Quote Link to post

Malt 379
....it looks a bit bird like to me. That's exactly what I was thinking. Quote Link to post
mattydski 560
In meat eaters, bird seed like poo can be a sign of maldigestion or malabsorption. The individual seeds are usually undigested fat and starch complexes. Can also be a sign of problems in the small intestine.. Dont know if this widens the options any more? Quote Link to post
postiepaul 0
hedgehog, one sleeps under my shed and leaves things like that around the garden. Its not too big. Quote Link to post
