Who has an allotment?

Recommended Posts

The allotments in my area have a lot of empty plots and their only £12 a year!!!! The plots are huge... the problem you get is that there are certain people who have plots there that steal from and destroy the other plots so no one want to put in the hard work. These people arent kids, their 40+ year old men who arent wanting to grow up, our council just isnt concerned enough to do anything about it either.

My God, they should be kicked off immediately.

I suppose you could put up a lot of barbed wire!

In fact, could you use geese as guards? Just let them roam through the allotment, and have small fences around the beds?

You cant keep chickens or geese or ducks there because they kill them, a friend of mine who had an alloment there had all the heads pulled off his chicks. I remember when i was a youngster, my grandfather had a plot there and he would grow allsorts, then the council gave two plots too two very dodgy people and you cant even grow a carrot safely there. Theres only the two plots and one community plot thing the council tried setting up last year, the rest of it is overgrown and going to waste. You complain to the council and they dont even acknowledge it... which is typical of our council... they seem to think its a good idea to put all the smackheads in flats surrounding the old age bungalows here. We used to have a nice little village..... its more like village of the damned now

yep, used to have a few plot.

mine had an old cricket pavillion on it, i kept my goat in it at night.

i had around 40 hens on it and a cage full of ferrets.

i grew spuds, spring cabbage and onions.

i packed it in when the kids started breaking in to doss down and smoke pot and kill my hens and ferrets
