if you can confidentely hit the top of its wing then surely you can make a head shot so whats the point???????

Just curious but i have always gone for head shots myself, i thought may be it would drop them but they might die in pain.

when i shoot them with a .22 mind, i tend to go for a head shot, mainly because if you miss judge the distance as i sometimes do it will either go straight over and not harm it or go in to the neck for an instant kill. that said when i do pest control on ferals if i cant get a head/neck shot for whatever reason the back or shoulder is my next choice, remember this is where the majority of the vital organs are so almost instant kill.

I always hit them in the back, or just above the breast in the neck on front. .177 penetrates a bit more, so I take my chances. they mostly drop without flapping a wing, and thats how I like it.

great thanks

Where is the best place to hit a rabbit?.

depends on how good you are with your airgun mate, a head shot is always best but if you cant do that then a shot to the heart will drop them for sure. alot of people swear by cavity shots.

No.

I personally wouldn't go any further than 40 yards, with any cal 12ft/lbs rifle. I have done in the past on the odd occasion.

as maltenby says its personal preference!!

i would and have, different circumstances require different tactics.

IE: stalking no!! because the joy is in the stalk the placement of the shot comes naturally

static shooting { sniping } i find a lot more comfortable with, breathing under control nice and steady shots.kill zone every time mil dots are very effective in this situation once you know your range .
