daz 0
i would recommend a cz 452 varmint mate( faultless) why don't you go for a .223 great cal and cheaper rounds.here's a pic of my cz and my rugger .223(the pheasant wasn't shot with the .22 just my son wanted a picture of them both together) Edited February 11, 2009 by daz Quote Link to post
njc110381 0
My choice would be a CZ453 (like a 452 but better trigger) 16" american for the .22. If not that then the 452 with a Brookes trigger kit fitted (they're only about £15 and transform the rifle). You don't need a long or heavy barrel for such a small round so why carry extra weight if you don't have to? For the .222, a CZ527 American. Again, unless you plan to really go for it on a range you're better off with the lighter barrel. I have a 527 varmint and wish I'd bought a sporter now, it weights a fecking ton when it's fitted with the mod, bipod, scope etc! Both the 453 and 527 have a set trigger function which is very crisp. The 527s also have a small action designed for the smaller .22CF cases. Unlike many of the cheaper makers which use full sized jobs to save money. As you can tell I like CZs! I have a few rifles and to be honest I really rate the CZs. They're not the best guns in the world but they're hard to beat without spending serious money. Out of the budget makes (Howa, Remmy, Tikka etc) I think they are the best bet. They're very accurate straight from the box and are well made. If you were going for a larger calibre I would say look at a tikka because my 6.5x55 is lovely to shoot, but having the same size bolt for everything from .300 win mag to .222 is just silly! You don't need that heavy an action for such a small calibre. Quote Link to post
Corky(amateur) 0
[bANNED TEXT] help guys. have spoken to firearms officer and he has said i can swap to a .223 if i want as they are more common etc. so have done and he'ss changed my license. so, to be honest, i think a cz possibly second hand(synthetic stock is defo an option and still not a clue for the .223 Quote Link to post
karlp86 0
i've got a howa varminter in .223, it's a very nice rifle and i would highly reconmend it. as for rimfire i have two, one .17hmr cz varmint and one .22lr cz silhouette, both are very nice. the howa is second from top then the cz varmint below it and the cz silhouette at the bottom atb karl Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
The .222 club is getting smaller :( I shoot .222 in a CZ and I can't really fault it. It shoots perfectly well enough for me, and can way outshoot me in the right hands. I've just begun the reloading process for it, so I'll get the best I can out of it The .223 is a far more common round with a wider variety of ammunition as has been said. The .222 has its good points though, won several benchrest medals it did But the .223 wont put you far wrong. A CZ in either calibre isn't going to be far wrong Quote Link to post
