MR TEA POT 1,287
Hi mate, you don't need the string on the snare when you set them on fences, just tie the snare straight onto the fence. You have done right by cutting the wire to make the catch area bigger. Have you wrapped the snare around the fence to hold it in postion?.Just use the brass wire as a snare and it will hold it self up. I am no pro just what i learnt from going up north to woodga's.Somebody on here will put you right. Edited February 11, 2009 by MR TEA POT Quote Link to post

DIGGIT 6
diggit is there any other way of getting rid of the rabbits? ferret them or shoot them? or is a snare the only way? yeh i can shoot them ferret /run them with the dog, but as old trap collector knows i can work magic with a shot gun and a rifle , but for me it's about getting back to basics and learning this old art, i think alot of us have become to rely on the gun to much and for me theres just no art or skill in it any more, ive done the 100 to 200 bags of rabbits with the rifle and 200 to 300+ pigeons with the shot gun and over time i think you get fed up with it. Now for to get 100 rabbits in snares, that would blow me away and it also gives me somthing to go for. Well ive not done to bad on my first time out i put 50 snares down and had 23 rabbits in them at 6am today, i also had a visit off my old mate charlie which meant out of the 23 i only had 17, but im going to repay him the complement tonight with a .243 in his head. MADE A RIGHT OLD MESS, nice run there to THE FECKER JUST LEFT A FOOT ON THIS ONE Edited February 12, 2009 by DIGGIT Quote Link to post
