Guest reload
A good season with the young dog and a shit one with the big dog. I will lamp rabbits with the dog until the grass is too long or it gets to hot.....Then its shooting rabbits, fishing......and a few stalks on the occasional roe buck Everything else is left to bread Edited February 12, 2009 by reload Quote Link to post

martinabley 4
i wil leave everything in peace at the end of the month but this month is allways my favourite month of thr year. i am really pleased with my young staffy bitch ive been ferreting and even lamping with allways in the right place good nose patience well happy. she has taken bolted rabbits like a lurcher. the lurcher is the worst lamper ive ever had, soon as turn lamp off he fucks off . before the ban all i did was hares and thats all he has in his head looking for em. he is ok at ferreting .... some thing to work on .... i need some more permission , i got some new permission then lost it the same day. there was an orchard running next to a field of horses. the land owner wanted the orchard clearing of rabbits but a woman who is an anti has the field. i spoke to her and she said to keep the dogs away from the horses. we had a great day the staffy crashing through the undergrowth wiping out the trapped rabbits, then the lurcher jumped the fence and chased a fleeing rabbit through the horses just as the woman turned up to feed the horses. she went f*****g ballistic . i thought about giving her a tap on the head with the spade but wouldnt get her body down a dug out rabbit hole... permission easy come easy go Quote Link to post
Tyla 3,179
A very good seasons ferreting but crap for the dogs, a long succession of injuries and shite weather. They are, finally, both fit now (touch wood) so should get a bit in before all the grass gets too high. After that its the air rifle to keep on top of the rabbits and, hopefully, learning to flyfish properly Quote Link to post
