lorelei0922 2
Hi there! My husband has just recieved his shiny new Shotgun Certificate... well done for Him! the question is.. we dont see anything on or in the paper work saying you need to carry it when shooting? Do you? I would think it would be a good idea to have in ON HAND should anyone stop you while out and about with your shotgun right? So what do you carry it in? so it doesn't get wrinkled or torn or messed up with creases etc? Do you make a copy to keep in your gun slip and leave the original at home for safety ? or what? Thanks in advance Quote Link to post

richie 1
its common sense to take it with you when the shotty is been used.... saves all the agro.. Quote Link to post
Country Life 0
Its always advisable to take it every time you go out shooting, Just in case plod stops you all questions can be answerd, and the gun will not be confoscated (it will if the holder does not have the ticket with them). A leather wallet is advisable to keep it cleen and safe, ALL gun shops sell them. John Quote Link to post
Sterry 0
I always take it with and keep it in one of the internal pockets in my jacket, i think they do certificate wallets made of leather well worth i think. Quote Link to post
spiderpig 39
dont need to take with you at all as all shotgun and firearms holders are on the central computer so a quick radio call will confirm this, this was said to me by my firearms officer it was only advised before everything was on the main database Quote Link to post

John What john says, however it is not a foregone conclusion that without the certificate the police will confiscate it. They have the right to take the gun from him if they believe that a crime has been or is about to be committed. So the best advice is for him to have the certificate with him. I personally carry a photocopy and state so on the copy that 'This is a copy of the original' I do this as I understand that the police's data base now has firearms/shotgun certificates linked into their system Peter Quote Link to post

mattydski 560
Normally I leave FAC and SGC hidden in the landy More so that I remember my FAC for getting ammo. So I always have it if required. As was stated we are all on a central database, so no need to keep it on you.. Quote Link to post
clivej 0
Get a photocopy of it and carry that with you. Does for me anyway. I also put all my gun details on a small business size card for using in the dealers when getting ammo. I have 3 licenses and the permisson for the moderators so thats 4 bits of paper and the card. I can't aford to loose them so I carry the copies. I fact now I think of it I lost the originals moving house and only have the copies now. Everything is kept in my wallet, copies that is. Deker 3,478
Lots of companies will sell you a cover/wallet for your FAC/SGC..the firerms departments used to send them out in a plastic cover. I have copies of my FAC/SGC and carry these in the slips..only times I take out the original is when essential...new FAC are interesting..when you photocopy them the word forgery appears!! Mr_Logic 5
I thought it said fraud? Anyhow something does My ticket is off for variation at the mo so I am reliant on the database if stopped Normally take a copy but FEO grabbed it off me when he came round, so no opportunity, especially since the appointment was made with about 10 minutes' notice, and when I had a cold too. SportingShooter 0
The National Firearms Licensing Management System (NFLMS) is far from fast to get a response from! It takes an age and would feel an awful lot longer when you are standing next to a squad car. I carry copies of my SGC/FAC with me when I'm shooting and I leave them in the car. The Originals are rarely used really, they stay in the cabinet with what they stand for I've never been stopped but a good friend has. He had his SGC on him and went on his way, but he said the officer was decidedly nervous until he produced the SGC! Nervous police men? Not good, Armed Response be there shortly SS Quote Link to post
