POWER CUT & eggs in the incubator :(

Recommended Posts

What dya reckon is the most amount of hours set egs can stand befor theyve gone 'pear shaped'?

I suppose theres a lot of dependant factors, insulation of eggs, room temp etc etc.

Ive lost power for about 9 hours, and mine hatched okay.... i find that putting a towel or something over the incubator helps keep the heat in.

Was nearer 12 hours, with hindsight I could have covered the incubator, or maybe taken it to a friends. Was on day 10. :(

Back on as off about lunchtime yesterday, ill leave it running and candle them maybe.

I've had eggs hatch after a 12 hr power cut. The inc was in the house mind so the temp would have been slow to drop. I touched the eggs and they were totally cold so dont be to hasty GD

12 hours is probably the max you will get away with it as long as it has not ben opened at any time. Best of luck tho' :good:
