hi mate, i dont wash them or would wash them, apparently using shampoo's results in the ferrets losing oils from their fur and makes them smell even worse as they try to replce the lost oils??

the only reason i am wanting to give them a clean was i noticed that the bedding was slightly damp, probably from all the rain and snow we've had. so i have now moved the hutch to a differant position further back in the car port.

the boys just smell damp and its pretty strong.

cheers tony

I found a pressure washer cleans ferrets and cages at the same time!

Joking joking joking DON'T DO IT!

Steam karcher does the trick :clapper: and then tumble dry for about 10 minutes

They look like angora ferrets after the tumble though!

NO NO NO! JOKING DON'T PUT THEM IN THE TUMBLE!

its already been said they dont NEED baths.. and yes it does strip the oils from their coats and then they double time it to build it back up and end up stinking worse...but its your choice.. if you wanna get this particular stink off them and let them start out smelling fresh in a fresh hutch go for it.. it wont hurt them either...

but if you need to do so.... i'd do it INSIDE this time of year... use a lil warm water in the bath and or a lil gentle soap.. ie baby shampoo type thing... or dove ... toss a towel into a pillow case and toss the wet ferret into the case... and they'll go mental drying themselves off... dont put them back out in the cold till they are completely dry...
