ATB ADAM Some of the pups will end up too big to go to ground but I am hoping the smallest of the litter, a little female I kept will be more of the Jack size but with a stronger bully head. Maybe able to pull an animal out. I am not an expert on the techniques but know what we usually have is some russells going to ground and the Bully would be waiting and digging until the animal is at surface. My friend bought a male from this Bull and Jack litter and hopes it will be what he calls a 'cesar' dog to dispach the animal. I don't hunt near as much as these fellas but do enjoy seeing the dogs work and go to ground. When I say they will make good hunters, i mean I believe they will be game. As far as their function, it would all depend on their size and ability. I guess we will have to wait and see. check back with the web site and I will try and update it with new info and picturs as they mature. My goal with this breeding; a more powerful russell type and sized dog. I am interested in a good look as well as being game, able to hunt in some way. I wish you all the best with the bullrussell terriers, but it seems to me like you've gone into this without really knowing what you want from the dogs you've bred, bar a bully head. I have to agree with AFT and wish you all the best with your bullrussels, but think you went into this project with your priority's in the wrong order. "I am interested in a good look as well as being game, able to hunt in some way." This sentence says alot and would meen a little more if it were reversed. Hunt drive/determination to locate, go to ground, get to the quarry and stay has to be number one IMO. As for the rest....color, style of work, size, ect. ect. thats just a personal preference. tsmcsfee, I really do hope that you have started with some really good white dogs for your project and focus more on the hunting aspect of it. I am first looking for a good look, second, the ability to hunt. Does that make me less of a hunter? yes. I hunt occassionally with my dogs, they go out on my back acre every weekend and stirr up game, its a lot of fun to watch. I have takent them out to more remote locations and they love to go to ground. I enjoy it but I would not call myself a big hunter. My dogs are mostly companion dogs but to me it is a bonus to watch them work. I bet some may think I have no business being on this site unless I am an extrem hunter and thats ok. maybe I dont. I love these dogs though. My extrem hunting buddies sure were excited about these bull jacks so I think they have potential. Again, thanks for your advice!
