Guest hpool_hunter
well as arranged with another member from here * gaz100604* - i travelled the 3 hours by train from HARTLEPOOL to WARRINGTON , for the weekend . leaving hartlepool on friday at 6.00pm , i was greeted by gary at warrington station at 9.30pm , we had a chat and headed to his home , were we then had something to eats ect ect , NIGHT 1: wasnt long before we headed off out , 11pm we set off to garys permission about 30 mins drive away , the frost was still set in and full moon with no wind , meaning lamping conditions were bad from the word go , but we didnt let that hinder us , as we walked along , with my coursing dog in toe , aswell as the pup gary got from me last year , charlie * now 10 months old* a collie based lurcher , we had a good walk but with conditions the way they were on the night we wasnt expecting much , a few daft slips . few long slips , just the give they dogs a run , had some good runs ,with the end result been a rabbit and a nice * retreived* hare for my coursing dog , and 2 rabbits for the pup , and headed back to garys . hoping the following night would be more of an outcome . coursing dog with the nights game : the nights bag and the * shot and retrieved hare* NIGHT 2: Hoping conditions were going to be better * which they didnt* , due to not getting in to early hours in the morning we had a good days rest and kip , heading back on the lamp at around 10.30pm , hitting the land at around 11.00pm , but this time trying a new set of permission which gary had never walked before , we had planned to walk it during the day to get a feel of it first , but we decided against it as by time we finished what we had to do during the day it was getting late anyways , so we thought we would just give it a chance , walking around , again frost on ground , ground been hard ect , no wind , full moon , conditions were certainly not at there best , but managed to bag 1 rabbit with the coursing dog , and headed home . coursing dog with her only kill of the night : Sunday : took the dogs out for a walk as i was preparing to leave warrington , and said a great thanks to gary for having me over , even though we never bagged much at all , it wasnt the land / garys fault but the luck of the draw ect , but you cant win them all . its the taking part that counts the walk out : all best HH Quote Link to post
