Beagle querie

I'm looking to get a brace of Beagles (wife's choice) - mainly as family pets, but they'll have to earn their keep too! I do a fair bit of shooting and was wondering how to get the best from the dogs.

What are their limitations? Will they flush and pick up? Are they a pain in the arse? Are they the right dogs?

Any help most appreciated

dont think beagles will suit you mate. maybe beagle x spaniel would be better. beagles will flush but they wont stop there, they keep after the fox,hare rabbit until they cant scent them or catch them or run them to ground. beagles are deaf once on a scent. as pets they can be destructive if bored so good kennels are requierd.

if your looking for something for rough shooting a beagles not it,imo.

Ive got a lady friend who has a couple of beagles,fair enough they havent been brought up in a hunting environment,but theyre shite when i go out with her,no natural instinct for nowt???
