back to basics

Recommended Posts

i have recently restored my 30 year old RELLUM SPORT air rifle.

it has been in the garage for 20 years...........and was still running around 7 ft/lbs !!!!!!

anyway......re-sealed and buffed up managed to getting running just under 10 ft/lbs.

so a trip down memory lane..... i decided to take it out with me yesterday.

a very old springer with horendous recoil....and.....open sights !!!!! a bit less user freindly than my PCP.

after 1/2 an hour setting it up i managed to bag a couple of bunnies.

i just makes you realise how simple air gun shooting is with a PCP.

with open sights and mega re-coil you have to think about your shooting.

so i urge anyone just starting out with a siutable open sighted springer to give it a try it WILL teach you to shoot !!!!!

needless to say i will not be using it as a replacement for my rapid...but for a back to basics approach from time to time it will be getting used.

all the best

I will stick to my springer but no open sights for me. out of interest sean did you head shot or heart for bunnies? i often find my supersport running at 10fps doesent kill clean with head shots, cleanly i mean the rabbits just lie down and thats that. how do you achieve this? its nice to know the good old guns are capable of what pcps are when hunting.

head shots at about 15 yards, after a decent bit of stalking and lying in wait for about 20 mins............clean kills though.

wouldn't trust it to kill cleanly at a further distance so wouldn't even try !!!!!!!!

cheers
