kirstysdad 827
some good answers there very informative just to add i find with small feilds like a lot in ireland you need some thing with fast early pace i have tried most of the crosses mentioned the 3/4 is a good dog and the 1/2 cross back to 1/2 cross sometimes throws some fast ones what i use now is a whippetx bull put back to a greyhound the whippet blood adds some good early pace and in small feilds you dont have to worry so much about stamina as you want a dog that knocks them over in a short distance and as for around a hole they can handle that as well Quote Link to post
top terrierman 90
i breed a litter of frist cross bull greyhound two years ok they were fast enough to catch on the lamp bursting throw cover i have seen one of the little bitchs catch foxes in the cover a few times.and are the job for drawing . harddigging 42
half cross excellent draw dogs not all are fast enough on the lamp. 3/4 grey 1/4 bull good on lamp but if worked hard stand a good chance off jibbing while drawing. i cant really quote on a 5/8 3/8 cause ive never owned or seen many work but ill be looking for a couple bred this way shortly. so i guess id recomend th 5/8 grey 3/8 bull Quote Link to post

Guest dances
youll be surprised, black is deseaving. i like the look of that dog alot. Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873
i'd just go for a dog that parents are doing what you want as some 3/8 - 5/8 are racier than 3/4 and visa versa,no way of knowing,so the % is'nt the main thing as they can even differ in the same litter Quote Link to post

hubbs 178
A good strong 3/4 hound 1/4 bull would do you sounder... or even just as good would be 5/8 hound 3/8bull ... will run all night and hack all day if you get the right one... first crosses ar ideal around the hole but wont knock that many foxes on a run but if your driving feilds like some do there fine...Good luck with what ever you get. 5/8 hound 3/8 pit my bothers got one thats proberbly the best dog ive seen of its breeding for his needs id seriously recommend one.. there is some excellent breeders out there so shop around my bro held out and has got a cracking dog so it is well worth it Quote Link to post
Malt 379
its nice to see you asking all the right questions ray , also getting some sensible answers.. like i said mate dont go buying the first dog you come across..... its no good rushing into it, it will soon be the end of the season . if it comes to it mate , i will send one of mine over on loan till you get sorted ... That's a hell of an offer, fair play to you wag. Quote Link to post

webby 31
I would have to say bull x grey x ridgeback but the bull side of things being second or third generation. pick the parents that are right i.e height, build, way they work, brains. mostly common sense just as long as they can produce the right dog for you. personally i run a bull x grey x saluki standing at 25"tts thats just part of my working pack Quote Link to post
