this is a sad story, i have a jrt and he is so soft i just couldnt picture a jrt doing that. i have a new born baby he's only 4 days old and i dont know what to do with the dog,, any advice???

All I'd say is treat the dog like the domesticated wild animal that it is, be sensible and it needn't be a problem.

Can't imagine how it must feel to lose a child, am sure life would never be the same again.

I wouldnt leave my 2 gr-daughters together in a room for any amount of time by themselves & there is no way in the world i would leave them alone with the house staff or any other dog.Ive had dogs for 26 yr.What im trying to say is no matter what, under any circumstances take any risk with children in any walk of life, especially with a dog.Sure this is all common sense to most dog owners & parents.Im not implying that kid died through the fault of the dogs owner.Like i said ive kept dogs for a while but its tragedys like this, that are preventable, which make me sick to the bottom of my stomach. There aint nothing more precious than a newborn or young child.Lets all learn something from this & spare a thought for the young baby & her family.

My heart felt sympathies go out to the family and the little fella.

Can i just say its not just dogs that need to be kept away from the kids.

Your ferrets can do a lot of long lasting damage to a baby asleep in its cot if their allowed in the house.

It's a crying shame. My dogs are brilliant with my baby, they seem to know to stay away from him. They'll come over, try to lick his hand now & again when he's on your lap, otherwise they don't show any interest.

Good as they are, I still wouldn't trust them enough to leave them alone with him for a minute.
