Attack Fell Terrier 864
I've only ever used the Bellman&Flint one but I thought it'd be better than what it turned out to be when I first used it. Still it does the job and I ain't complaining. Quote Link to post
dev 227
there is simply no comparason, the bellman and flint is not perfect but its light years ahead of the old mk1 Quote Link to post

Still it does the job and I ain't complaining. it does the job but a think the old deben far cheaper and simple to use the bellman and flint for instance one minute it tells you you dog is 0.9 then the next it says 12.9 now how the hell can a terrier move as quick as that under ground a dont think its possible today we were out and a was getting pisst off with the bellman the arrows were all oveer the place a think the box had a mind of its own give me the deben anytime its plain and simple to use Quote Link to post
ACEPACK 5
I agree the Bellment and Flint is the Biz, best out there just now. Quote Link to post
busterbuster1969 313
No Contest for me " Bellman & Flint " by a country mile.. Much better finding range, much tougher collars, waterproof collars, longer battery life, locate more than one terrier at a time, I now let my dogs enter places that perhaps i would of given a wide berth in the days of the Deben, lost count of the number of times my collars packed up due to a bit of damp grass with the deben Buster Quote Link to post
Guest E.Mc
2 Questions spring to mind. How far are you willing to test your dogs? How much do you value your dogs life? Deben mk1 compared to B&F/Ortvox. NO COMPARRISON. Quote Link to post
TRANSIT690 0
WE use both ,the deben as back-up,a couple of weeks ago the deben collar came out a mess (nearly chewed through) i personally prefer b and f, but my mates sticking with the knocking box. Quote Link to post

What's so hard about that? It ain't rocket science. Quote Link to post
Guest whitser
used the knocker box for years.the bellman is a a gift. not knocking the box, i still carry one in the car as a back up, but the b&f is much better. especiallly if you run a terrier loose and let him hunt up. so imo mk1 is good and sound but not as good as the b&f. Guest E.Mc
The readings you get on the bellman or the orto for that matter will fluctuate going from .9 to 12.9 or whatever when the dog is traveling. When the dog settles then I look for a steday mark. I do this when the numbers stop jumping and locate the dog.I don't see the point in locating a dog from the moment he enters an earth. Guest E.Mc
The numbers jump if the terrier moves even if it is just a foot the numbers will fluctuate. The way you make it sound you have a faulty box or your dog isn't stopping in 1 place. I've explained what I've seen with the bellys and orto, but when my dog settles the numbers don't move. I can only speak of my own experience. Quote Link to post
dev 227
the numbers do sometimes jump about like that, dont know why it happens tho. the dog is settled and in the one spot but for some reason the numbers jump up high then come back again imeditatly, strange but weve got used to it. also we never go by the arrows Edited February 7, 2009 by dev Quote Link to post
