sue 1
As the weather was rather nice today i decided to go ferreting today instead of tomorrow .I arrived just after 11 and I let the dogs have a little run about first to let of some steam,I picked up the ferrets and started off to catch up with the dogs who had gone ahead sniffing around ,when I caught up with them it was obvious someone had beat me to the rabbits there were signs that someone had been ferreting there .So with a temper rising I marched along the field down into the hollow where I know there are always rabbits ,to my shock 2 youths were there and one of them was digging :realmad: ,my gobby bedlington was going crazy barking at them at this point and when I appeared in view with the other dogs they decided to do a runner leaving behind 5 rabbits and 4 nets ,as I was picking up my freebees what comes toddling out of a hole but a lovely little albino jill a little thin but rather friendly ,So in the end not a bad day ,the little ferret has settled well into her new home and tucking into a huge fat pigeon for tea with her new mates Quote Link to post

John-B 4
It was the young lads choice to run away and leave stuff behind, I would of done the same, if they had stayed I would of had a word and moved them on with thier gear. Quote Link to post
whippet 99 2,613
depends wheather they had permission or not, by the looks of it they didnt a man and dogs r quite daunting at the time i bet they went back l8er on 2 c if any thing was left like u say better there than on the streets-if only they went the right way about it weve all done it when we were young big learning curve 2 the lads and a disapointing 1 Quote Link to post

mattydski 560
errr ..... can I get me ferrets back please missus... Quote Link to post
will.f11 24
Go back and leave a peice of paper on the burrie with your phone number on. If they want the gear back then they can get it. But personally, anyone who runs off and leavs the ferret to it doesnt deserve them. Quote Link to post
Guest Mass_G3nocide
If i was poaching which i never do I would'nt leave my ferrets or nets rather get a smack than lose them. Quote Link to post
Guest tewkesferreter
well said wilf. i got caught poaching last season with the ferrets still under, the farmer told me to leave his property straight away in no uncertain terms or hed call the police, i said i wasnt going anywere till my ferrets were out,bit embarasing dispatching rabbits with him watching over me. isnt it illegal to leave any animal underground once entered? I was told about a man who used to breed ferrets and release them to cull the rabbits on his land,I was also told the same that it is illegal but then i am gratefull as i found all 3 of my ferrets in a field in the same day.
