I have the Blitz. I thought long and hard before getting it because it is not cheap!! I would not use anything else now really. It seems to pierce through mist and the Beam stays tight for a long way. The only drawback is the size of the face of it, but the light you get from it is worth the compromise imo. I would make sure you have a first class Battery which is at least 17 Amp Hour though.

Some guys have said with a Filter you lose some brightness, but I never use Filters so don't really know. I have found with other Lamps that, unless you are looking directly down the Beam, it seems dull anyway with any Filter.

i have the blitz and have a 50 watt bulb in it(makes no difference to beam),i run this on a 12v 14 amp pack and get 4/5 hours easy out of it on back of the van so the lamp is on constantly. :good:

the batteries in emergency lighting in factories and office blocks are the same ones that come with lamps.find someone who works in one of these places and you are sorted.all you have to buy is the lamp.save you a fortune.you can buy all the accessories from any electrical place for next to nothing

No they're not. They are a much smaller battery, powering say a 10watt bulb for 3hours. You use the same battery on a 50w bulb, it aint gonna last very long is it?

However, the batteries they use as backup in fire/burglar alarms are the same batteries, but usually only 7amp/hr battery

the way i lamp from the van is just using the lamp with the normal shoulder (belt or back pack whatever you use) and when you get the driver to stop you can hop off, lamp in hand get a dog and away you go :good:

you could also have 2, hook one right up to the battery of the car, so your driving using that one, then hop out and use the battery pack, that way you will have more a longer time before the battery goes flat

may not be a problem for you guys, but here we can drive around for hours with the lights on most of the time
