wuzzy 0
hi all finally got a permission, its right on my doorstep but its a horse paddock that belongs to a local guy he says i can do what i want aslong as i dont upsett the horses, thing is its a really long stretch of land which is really just a valley inbetween a housing estate and a motorway, sounds worse than it is its got to be about a mile long and half a mile at its widest (sorry dont do acres) but most of it is open fields cant seem to get anything on it except a few ferels and maybe the odd maggie and crow, i have a sneaky suspicion there,s a fox on the land but cant find its den and no sign of rabbits or tree rats, what do you think a no hoper or just bad timing???? chimp 299
you should be over the moon , he said you can do what you want ? sounds ideal to me . decoying with split rabbits etcc. now you have that you can start going to neighbouring land owners and tell them you do a bit for mr smith and ive noticed rabbits coming your side , do you mind me going for them only gets better from now on Quote Link to post
wuzzy 0
dont get me wrong i am very happy but just seem to be comming up short on the shooting due to having virtually no experience and really not knowing what to do first, ive only just got my xs78 working properly polishing everthing but like i said i dont have a clue what to do ive been down pointing the rifle at the ferels but thats it??????? chimp 299
gun safety is number one ( but you know that already) is there anyone who can go with you ? might be worth having a walk round and get to know it inside out , have a good walk round any tree's and see if there are any tree rats you can have a pop at . once you get to know the land and what quarry it holds it will all come good Quote Link to post
wuzzy 0
been down now just for a mooch and the lands well trodden due to snow and horses so no quiet stalking as i had a hard time getting through but it seems there,s no sign of rabbits just ferels but also fox prints to a hole near a tree root, had a quick word with the owner and he,s offered me another location where he has stables and a big fox problem,he justs traps them in a cage with bait and lets the local farmer take care of them so he,s asked me if i can take care of them,it looks like im going to be busy this year not a bad start but if anyone near me fancys comming round and giving me a few pointers and fancys some shooting i dont mind Edited February 7, 2009 by wuzzy Quote Link to post
