OTC Its legal but not on moral grounds unless you are really close to vermin ..Ideal for trapped species.Unless its recoilless you would have to be a damn good shot anyway Quote Link to post
ghillies 209
if it has an arm rest/stock its a rifle.. if its detatchable then its a pistol.. even with the butt on, unless theres a mecanism that changes the out put like the AA s410 is it? the one withat splits down into a back.. got two power settings to it, stock on is 12fp legals stock off its 6.. at 6 fp's @ 20 yards your looking at between 3 and 5 foot pounds ariving... they say 4fp's is the minimum for a rabit, but 5's already getting on the too little side of things. i've taken a rabbit at 72 yards, with an estimated 5.8fp ariving.. it did kill it but i'll be making sure i'm this side of 60 yards from now on.. does kill but it's iffy..(it's got to be accurate....). so starting of with 6fp in a pistol.... a rabits head is sort of point blank stuff.. (hi BC in case any one wanders lol.. 11.45 at muzzle highest on a chrono.) Edited February 7, 2009 by ghillies Quote Link to post
Malt 379
whats the limit for a ratcatcher then ? The ratcatcher is classed as a rifle, so 12ft/lbs. Quote Link to post

ChrisJones 7,975
Hi all, Can someone please clarify something for me? To save me scouring the net for the answers - Is killing vermin/hunting legal with an air pistol in the UK?? Yes. Am I right in thinking that the legal muzzle velocity for an air pistol is 6 ft/lbs??? Yes. With limited power comes limited range so they're only capable of short range shooting. Dispatching animals in traps, is the recommended use but I've seen them used as credible hunting tools, in the right hands. Quote Link to post
