John-B 4
Just thought it would be a nice gesture as a way of saying thanks for the permission to give him a little gift, a bottle of whiskey and a box of belgian chocolate liquors, he doesn't eat rabbits as we offered him some before, could work out expensive in the long run as the permission list gets longer but I suppose it's a small price to pay for a good hobby Quote Link to post
akton 15
Only at christmas time,Remember that you are doing them a favour,if you didnt keep the vermin under control,he would have to pay for a company to rid them for him. A simple bottle of scotch or some choccys is sufficient. Quote Link to post

Is that right ...ever heard of Rabbit control - Pests Act 1954.. I have over 30 yrs experience fella,In all my time providing a service, it was always a tip of the hat from the landowner and a thanks from him. I have never had anyone else go on any farm I had access to. Maybe its different were you live,or times have changed How much do you have to pay the farmer to ferret :whistling: Edited February 6, 2009 by akton Quote Link to post
undisputed 1,664
We always give a bottle of whisky to our farmers by way of thanks doesn't do any harm to keep them sweet. On our main farm the guy luvs buckfast so he gets a couple of bottles everytime we go....our permission has increased 10fold. Quote Link to post
jas88 0
you must be the olny person that has a ferret where you live as we often get calls asking for permission to go ferreting. The other farms i ferret i am thankful for the chance to go ferreting on and as i am friendly with them and dont go there strolling round thinking that i am doing him a favor climing through his hedges and digging holes when the ferrets lay up. i cant say that i know of a farmer that doesnt hunt himself so he is sharing his rabbits with me Quote Link to post

Ha Ha Akton, with an attitude like that you would go far down here, every farmer/land owner you spoke like that to would tell you to fu.k right off their land. Quote Link to post
