wuzzy 0
Drill it and then use a hand held jig saw or hole saw and then file it good luck Quote Link to post
Guest air gunner
Ok how hard is it to drill into the grain of the wood? Also what wood would you recommend beach walnut? Quote Link to post
chimp 299
do you really think you should be making your mate a stock if you havent got a clue how to do it ? Quote Link to post
wuzzy 0
hhmmm beech or walnut..... if you,ve got a nice piece then go for walnut cos beech has been done to death and if you use 2 pieces of sacraficial wood clamped either side it will stopp it from breaking out, i assume you mean the front end of the stock as the grain should be running length ways so its probably best to chissel out from the top Quote Link to post

klarakoi 0
Ah hah i have a router and chisels and files. What you have to make sure is that you do the inlet off a square edge? so after drawing the design on your blank plane one of the edges square and this will be where you inlet,, I might have some pics if you need em bud,, Rob..
