sounder 9 Posted February 6, 2009 Report Share Posted February 6, 2009 hi lads being on the phone to scent the last few days,chatting about getting up again for a dig, so today was planned, he said he should be up by 9 but at 8 my phone rang ...well buddy i am out side your door anyway a mate richie was phoned to see was he right 5mins he said ... so as i dug my other dog yesterday i only had waterford for today i dug last sunday to a nice fox so he was in good form to go again, we were hopeing to get a dig to scents dogs but we tryed alot of earth but nothing at home, so off to a place we call hogan's fort!! where we said we let waterford run it as we parked on the road looking to where we were going ,up on the hill we seen 2 foxes walking away one after another one was the biggest fox i ever seen, heading to the holes we hoped !! as we got up there we slip waterford where in he entered in mins he on, now this place is well knowen as a deep big tubes tubes over tubes in other words a c**t of a place . as war broke out he moved and moved up and down for a hour or so, till he stopped and all went quite and we said we dig to him had him at 1.9 on the box so not to bad but roots and hard earth did not make things easy got down about 2 foot then he move again fk i said .... where he move it was 2.2 on the box so left him again for abit but he was still lock on as i kept a eye on him checking on the box, he was moving about a foot up and down a tube but he was still in a a deep spot. he was in ground now 2 hour at this time, we said we have to open it lads so richie went to get more gear !!! from the car ,and when he came back i said he moved again F**k sake is all i heard, my lurcher was loose about the holes, she was going from hole to hole, next thing i seen her pushing up the full length of herself in the hole and bang !! she was locked, we look in and richie got her by her back legs and pull her out with her game and waterford in tow, the game was stone dead !!!!! yes dead, three of us just looked at each and could not belive it, it was dead as fk and the lucher pull it out by it back legs so it did not do it, i would not dream of telling anyone about this only scent and richie my mate thats not on the pc can tell the tale, i took waterford away right away to give him a breather as richie was dealing with the game scent took afew pic, now lad again not being big headed i know this lad can fight, and maybe the game was sick or some thing like i know he was giveing hell at the start, i just put it down to a good hard test from a game dog , as i said scent and richie was there and seen it, a good 2 and 1/4 hours in ground he battle and won in my eyes, and the dog was not broke up two tbh, i check the game it was well marked,but maybe the lurcher done that outside not sure, muckballs on he coat is a sign that he was pulled about the tubes all i can say is great job!! waterford , and thanks to scent for coming up all the way to try and get a dig to his dogs cheers bud cheers sounder scent found out how hard the banner earth is me and waterford have a well earned breather ps. blieve it or not Quote Link to post
