Nearly all my lamping is done on foot , I find you can get to places that a vehicle cant quite often. It is nice to be in a vehicle for instance shooting rabbits but I prefer foxing on foot as quite often you need to take a quick shot and sometimes its a bit of a pain in a vehicle.

I doubt if many people could drive the ground these days as its so wet plus walking keeps you fit !!!!

I tend to walk mine 99% of the time. I only have a small lamp on the rifle and put the battery in a rucksack. I've melted a hole in the side about 6" from the bottom for the lead to go through and I just bung the bunnies in the bag if they're worth keeping.

It is nice to lamp from the truck in summer, but I find I get so tangled up with the rifle inside the cab that it loses me more shots than I take. If I'm shooting with a mate I'll truck it if possible as they can shoot as I drive.

I was out on foot last night in the rain. I got seven bunnies with the HMR (could have sworn I hit eight, but I think a Fox may have pinched one before I went to pick up). I got soaked and very cold, but it was great fun!

I think that if you go out for a real heavy war on the bunnies you need a truck to carry them. I tend to give up when the bag gets too heavy and call it a night. I don't want to shoot everything after all, and most of my permissions are quite small, 100 acres or so

A quick edit to add that I do use the lamp on the gun for skanning around, but I always leave the empty in the chamber until I need to take a shot. That way I know the gun is safe to wave around. Carrying two lamps would make things complicated!
