stolen dogs

i am trying to get all game fairs to scan dogs when they enter the game fairs but getting no were all they say is the cost and what about the people that book for they week end.

 

well all i i told them was all people and dogs have to go through the main gate so they can be scaned it only takes a min to do.

 

i thnink this way it n=might make the people that steal them think twice before they take them.

 

going to ask the shooting times and the hunting life this week lets stop this

wots the point of that,how about the lads how are not in to showing and dont go walking round fairs poseing with there dogs

Brill suggestion & if they'd go along with it they may get more support from genuine dog owners. I'm sure it could be arranged to get reduced price microchipping from some one as well.

The stolen dogs are moved around the country that fast. Would be good if more working dogs were chipped- it doesnt take a minute & only needs to be done once.

the thing is even [bANNED TEXT] a dog is chipped all thay have to is feel around the body of the dog find the chip which is easy to do make a small cut and pull it out fact my vet told me that and haveing the chip donesent prove owner ship of dog and you can also buy your own scanner for chip to so its a looseing battle ether way mlb

my vet will not dock a tail or dew claws untill its been chipped

The chips are fairly small & have to be found first. The more you can do to show ownership the better. The problem is a lot of people move or sell the dog on without updating the chip details. To chip and tattoo would be even better but at the end of the day not everyone can afford it. Neutering a dog or bitch reduces the chances of them been nicked- a lot of people want them for breeding. We have within Doglost & the rescues I help with licensed microchippers.

I am realistic enough to know that you are never going to stop dog thrft but the more we do to deter it the better. Mine wear 'chipped & castrated tags' the bitch wears a 'chipped & speyed' tag.

Scanners are cheap either so where as you can buy them unless you are seriously into removing tags it just isnt worth it.

I'd like to see the dogs left alone, a lot more people wont be taking there dogs to shops & leaving them outside since Jess-the old mans collie was taken by some evil b*stard & thrown off a viaduct. I've lost count of the people I ve asked not to leave dogs tied up outside shops or in cars while they just 'nip' to the bank or the shop.

It takes seconds to put a window thru & snatch dog- believe me its happened. 2 spaniels last year in back of truck while bloke went to get Mc D's, came back dogs gone.
