different type holiday.

Recommended Posts

Im looking to try a different type holiday, something other than sun and sea.I was looking at something on the lines of Montana but its all bloody horse back stuff as far as I can see, cowoy I am not, lol.I have 2 kids to consider,13 year old boy and 15 year old daughter,I may also have my 18 year old son to consider.Anyone got experience of ''ALTERNATIVE''type holidays?Im open to anything, just need something that would captivate my kids.Even a snowy holiday might be worth looking at,done Lanzarote and Puerto Rico and enjoyable though they were I would love something outside of the box so to speak.

Ive been to Monatana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah.

Ive been in Summer and winter..great place to go.

If you go in winter you could do the Yellowstone National Park on a Snowmobile..that is awesome..

I've dona couple of winter resorts as well. Jackson Hole in Wyoming is just the best.

Another good place is Canada. In winter, I've gone skiing a couple of times, and included, dog sledding, snowmobiling, snow shoing, ice canyon walking, ice fishing.. Great holiday.. Would defo reccomend

In summer, lots of other sports, like quad trekking , horse riding, white water rafting, wild life watching... it goes on and on.

I haven't been for a 3 years to either place. When I 1st went it was cheap, £400 each for 10 days for flights and accomodation, last time it was up to £700 for 7 days.

In Canada I stayed in Banff, very good hotels, food and service were excellent. People are amazingly freindly.

In Jackson Hole I stayed in town, was just great. A real Western town, woodern side walks, cowboys etc, etc.

Forgot to add, try a rodeo in Jackson, or a Ice Hockey game in Calgary..

Just remember the tips add between 10-20% to you food bill. But the amazingly freindly service is worth it.

If you do go to Banff, let me know what hotel you are staying in, I know most of them, can give you some tips..

Hi JigSaw,..just got your PM mate, no worries!..

Do you wanna stay in one place?...road trip?...to be honest mate, if i was in your boat, i would defo give Las Vegas a thought...you can do eveything there, sightsee, travel (Hoover dam is REAL close, and the Grand canyon is only a short drive, buy american standards!..about 4hrs)...

SOOOOO much to do there mate, and Lake Mead is right there!...you can rent jet skis, boats etc, we used to BBQ and spear fish all the time there...a great place to kick back and relax!

I lived in Vegas for 2 1/2years, and it is a MAD place!...real cool to visit!...almost surreal at times...i miss being able to go see a movie at 3.30 on the morning, go eat a 42oz steak, and go out and run the dogs in the desert!...real good stuff mate...summat for eveyone there, movies, play parks, pools, etc...

I have asked the wife to check this thread out, and she will be able to help you out a bunch mate...if i think of anything real worth a look, i will pm you mate...all the best, and good luck with the holiday!

Jay..
