iguanaman2442 0
Well lads i have been going out ferreting with Taff70 for a couple of weeks now only managed to meet 5 time but taken a few. But to be honest a lot of the sets are way to big for the amount of ferrets we have and we get the feeling some of the rabbits are giving the ferrets the run around underground. Especially in a wooded bit we have the set is over 50foot long we used 75 purse nets and didnt get close to netting all holes. Must be over 200 holes to this set. Any of you lads wanna come down for a day/night and work the sets. The land is 100acres and over run with rabbits (we dont promise massive bags but think that the potential is there). A couple of terriers to work the hedge rows would also be usefull as a lot of sets go straight through them and cant really be netted. Long nets would also be good as Taff70 has a couple but just not enough. Now if any lads wanna do a longer stint (ferreting in the day lamping at night) and bring the lurchers and do some lamping that could also be arranged. There is also the possiblity that people that would want to could camp over night but as you know it will be cold so you would have to be mad LOL. So that people know the land we work has a macdonalds and a petrol station close (within walking distance) Let me know how many of you are intrested. Ideally we were thinking of around 10 lads meeting near the land and splitting into teams and working different areas of the land. So intrested to see who would be intrested in arranging something. Its another way to meet some good lads from the forum from around the same area (and ferther afield). Taff70 0
count me in, you have PM Looking good so far rob. Once we get a few more 2 make up some teams then maybe start throwing some dates around. There might even b a chance for 1 team 2 bolt 2 their own guns if they are into that as the farm is big enough. Quote Link to post

Taff70 0
hi rob, i think there might be 3 main teams. It all depends who would like 2 do wat. Like there's that wood that stretches for about 150 yds & more. There is also the hedges that side of the farm that might include poss rough shooting (where we ferreted that 1st day ) & also all the hedges near & around the ponds! Do u remember how long it took us to do those 2 sections of that 1 hedge? We came away with i think 8 then. I think those who want 2 bolt 2 guns should b away from those who want 2 use dogs. iguanaman2442 0
Oh yeah mate i was thinking that those that wanted to use dogs can stick on the pond side of the road the shooters could go the other side what you think. For the wooded bit i think we need to section it off into around 5-6 sections and have 2-3 lads on each section and around 10-15 ferrets down there stopp the little b*****ds givin the ferrets the run around. As you know cant really use any running dogs on that bit but the running dogs could work the hedges and the ponds. And yeah i think your right lets keep the shooters away from the dogs or there might be some very unhappy people!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,772
i can see what your trying to do being good on paper as it were. but be very carfull fella , this big day with loads of strangers all out ferreting with dogs , guns sounds like a recapee for disaster. you only need some inexperianced shooters, and some lees than obediant dogs , and you will be in a hole world of hurt. i hope all goes well and evrybody has a good day but as i said just be carefull kid Quote Link to post

iguanaman2442 0
Yeah lads i see what your saying but have already thought about this the land is in two parts so dogs will be on the 1 part and any guns will be on the other part of the land. The 2 parts of land are totally seperate dogs wont be any where near the guns i can assure everybody. We are totaly sure they wont be any where near eachother and can guarentee this. Aslong as people can listen to simple instructions there will be no probs anybody that is not prepared to respect the rules will be escorted off the grounds and asked to leave. We are just wanting to organise a good day out for all that are intrested responable and respectful and want a good day to en the season. Saftey to all people and thier animals is most important. Any questions lads please just ask. Ill ask Taff70 if he has any pics of the land to show what im trying to explain to you. Rob Quote Link to post
