ellir0305 9 Posted February 3, 2009 Report Share Posted February 3, 2009 hi i am new to this site and so far its superb................. thanks. i have been looking for good quality snare wire for ages so this is jackpot for me. thanks again. a couple of quick questions. 1, is 6 or 8 strans better for rabbit snares? 2. whats a good method for spinning them. i have a few issues with my homemade snares no being wound tight enough then they fray and need to be replaced. thanks every1 regards Peter more a question of 4 or 6 strand lighter for summer and heavie for winter if the rabbits are big or your own preference. i spin mine on a very small scale with one end clamped in mole-grips (held to my bedroom desk with a G clamp) and put the eyelet on a cup hook held in the chuck of a old hand wound drill. this works very well just keep the tension good. obviously snares need replacing after a while but if you can get retensioning in them you can have a few rabbits though before the change. and ian118118 google 'euroguns' and look on there for snare wire they do 500g gram bundle things. and then see if you can get it cheaper anywhere else.actually wait a minute http://www.euroguns.co.uk/acatalog/Fox_snares.html use that link good luck and trying asking one of the pros i am a lowly amatuer, even more so in these surroundings Quote Link to post
