lurchergrrl 1,441
Small things amuse small minds, I know .... but today I got my first ever two eggs from my free range, garden murdering hens. Well, not sure which one laid them but whatever. I grew up in a city, these are my first ever hens. Quasar 1
great stuff. If you bought the hens at POL ( point of laying ) the first lot of eggs will be small and as time goes on ( a year ) they will gradually get bigger. We have got 8 hens and they all produced small eggs ( and i love my eggs ) so i had to eat like 8. 2 years on they are now laying decent sized eggs. Stuff tastes sooo much better. Home Made Yorkshires Cakes Poached Fried Scrambled Hey anything We feed ours on Layers Pellets and Mashed Corn - cheap from wholesale pet foods and household food left overs. They go crazy for pasta They think its marinated worms. All the best, good luck and enjoy.

lurchergrrl 1,441
Chickens in the snow Mine stepped out yesterday and clucked at the stuff, tested it with their toes and decided it wasn't so bad. At the moment I don't have a proper coop and run (if anyone is selling let me know!), so they live in a plastic wendy house and are out all day in the garden. I was a bit fed up with them making a mess all over the place and decimating my grass ... but now I'm not so bothered The kids and I found the red one walking up the road one day They called this one Dora. She's really friendly - they're great fun to keep. I think it was the bantam leghorn who laid yesterday, my neighbour gave me this one to keep the red one company. The kids have named her Boots but I call her Evil Chicken 'cause she's a hateful thing. Pretty tho. They eat layers pellets and corn, and whatever else I chuck at them. miss lurcher bitch said: well lg im coming round for egg on toast then and well done choocks Anytime MLB - just for you: Quite possibly the very best thing I've ever tasted
