Saturday Night Well spent....

Recommended Posts

Went out last night with my new Cluson 6 volt lamp and I've got to say I'm well impressed with it's performance. The lamp retails at £85 but I got it for £78 the beam is a 400 meter type and has a light 6 volt battery pack unlike the heavy 12 volt battery packs..

My plot of land I have permission on is only 50 acres but it's heaving with rabbits, the summer time will have quadruple the amount on this plot. The first rabbit shot was a good text book shot with that reassuring THWACK to the bonce and it went down twitching only once courtesy of the S-TYPE. He was taken from about 45 yards and his mates run after that.

We then went into the horse paddock and both of us shot at the same time from different angles hitting the second rabbit with a THWACK THWACK from both rifles. My mate shoots an FX Cutlas in .177, It's a nice gun but it's not a Rapid ;)

After gutting both the rabbits and putting them under the car we had a coffee and a sandwich and plan the next route past the horse stables. I see one about 90 yards off and decided not to take the shot because the wind was too high for that range, so I switched the lamp off and mooched in another 50 yards to get a better shot. When I put the lamp on him he started to run for the hedge, but the farmer had been digging a trench and it could not make it up the pile of dirt. It sat there half way up the pile of dirt and I then took the shot. THWACK and it rolled down the dirt mound, we went over to it and it had landed in the water what filled the trench up. When we got over to it the nerves were still active and my mate thought bugs was trying to swim

After fishing him out I gutted him and layed him on a pile of logs to dry out for a bit. The night was coming to a close nearly so we just had another mooch onto the part of land near the rail track and see a few of them munching away but out of range. So we stalked quietly towards them to get in range and the feckers bolted when they see the lamps. One was a little bit visible through the bramble at 30 yards, so I took the shot THWACK was heard again and we went to see if we could get him out. Well we got him out ok enough and decided to call it a night as we'd probably terroized the rabbits enough for one night

Conclusion the lamp really worked a treat and well worth every penny spent...

is that the lamp on top of your scope ?

Yes mate that the lamp on top of the rifle and there is a high powered green laser just in front of the lamp for ratting & range finding, I also use an SA80 sling for those long trips hunting to bring the rifle to a ready position in an instant...
