Do any of you guys use bells

Recommended Posts

no not talking about the Whisky, I have attached bells to the Deben coller and it works a treat if they are above ground you can hear them and the Rabbits don't seem to like the music in the den :clapper::clapper: been trying it for the first time this month the Rabbits seem to bolt faster, even on burrows that I have been to before that have taken up to 30 mins are empty with in 10mins.

interested to hear what you all think.

Hello mate,

Yes the bells do work i use them and i find they make a big difference, i have a young polecat and he was a bit to quick underground and he caught virtually everything and we tried to find away of at least trying to give the bunny a sporting chance against linford the polecat and hey presto the bell was attached and the bunny hears him coming and does the the 100 metre sprint only to find a purse net impeding his progress! :icon_eek:

your also right in saying that it's easy to find them above ground in dense bramble etc, but the only fault i have found is that the do easily become clogged with mud.

Hmm, that sounds ideal for the situation im in atm...

1 of my ferts has hurt his leg somehow. He escaped and when I next saw him he was limping around the shed his hutch is in. Took him to the vet and he said its just a bruise but i cant take him out for a few weeks.

I tried ferreting with just the one ferret last weekend but he just killed underground (rabbits chose to face up to him rather than run I think, because he didnt have his mate with him) I heard a load of thumping and he came up covered in blood. If a bell will shift them better then I might just try again with 1 ferret today. Just got to get my hands on one now lol ;)

I had the problem that the bells were filling up with mud so I have made a harnes to attach the bell to the top of the ferrets neck and the MK chip has also found a place on the harness it looks like a back pack on the ferrets I will get some picks this comeing W-end and post them.

cheers for the answers
