jart 0
i,ve got a 7 month old saluki x pup that i,ve been trying to train on the recall, everything has been going ok but lately she has started to rebell. had her on the longline and she was doing very well coming back everytime i asked her to and getting rewarded for it, after a couple of weeks i took the long line off her and everything was fine, she was coming back to me when asked and she was coming on well, but now she has been reluctant to come to me when released off the leader, she starts off ok but when she has a run about she decides to remain a free dog!!! she comes within 10 yards of me then stands and will not come any closer when asked! she seems like she just wants to run and run and run, i,m walking her a mile to about a mile and a half a night do i need to walk her further to tire her to the point where she listens to me or does she need more time on the long line? Pignut 4
Try and work one to one in an enclosed area (somewhere safe). Fill your pockets up with treats and make it into a game. Make it fun, play with the dog, interact with the dog, not just "oi, you, come". Young dogs like fun and games. If it is boring, would you bother to come back when called every minute?
