Silencers on Spring Rifles

I haven't had a silencer on my gun before but..i would hope it makes a difference..i assume it wouldn't be much to the shooter but the sound distence should shorten?

there is a difference to the shooter and as you correctly say.......sound is obviously less over a distance.

 

but as always.....depends on the quality of moderator.

I think it depends on the gun too.

Mate has one on his springer and its fecking pointless all it does it make twang of spring sound louder

I had the HW80 and put the weihrauch silencer on it £45 the best sub 12ftlbs moderator that there is!

the best thing to do is take your rifle to a gunshop (one that you deal with a lot) and have them trim the barrel and thread it and re-crown after i had that done on mine it was incredible but if your after quiet you really should be thinking of a PCP my S10 and Scorpion were almost completely silent I kid you not mate! you could have 2 pigeons sitting next to each other and you could take one and the other would sit there just thinking "wheres Percy gone?" you then let him know, honest mate pcp if you really want silent.

But on the springer it will help but you will never remove that tell tale twang!

A properly fitted silencer can help a springer but to really get the best out of it you sould consider having the rifle tuned a good tune can remove a lot of the twang and mechanical noise rom the gun.

but down wind to your target the twang of a springer is not whats heard that often , its the crack of the exit sound of the pellet,, one of the easiest ways of determining whether your gun needs a silencer is to ask a friend to sit in a safe position parallel to your target,, when you make a shot,, then you have a listen,, then try a silencer, even if its just a cheap push on,, I promise you, you will hear the difference,, give it a go,, nothing to lose,, but a lot to gain,, just an a opinion people,,

Well mate i asked the same question and ended up getting one. (thanks bearinator) it makes a difference to everything the noise is considerably quieter you wont notice much but people around you will the noise of the spring is still there though. its makes a difference to the power but if fitted properly it wont effect aaccuracy much, apart from the slight drop.

This is true but it depends on the land over which you shoot if your in a valley or somewhere that carries sound easilly then the mechanical noise of the gun will echo around the shoot but on some land at target distance the mechanical noise can be lost. A silencer can help but there are no guarantees.

mine makes a diverance if you are standing 10 yards away but if your firing it you can tell a diferance but not a big one

get a good modertator mate and it will make difference.

I have one on my gun BSA Lightning XL and the only difference i see is quite obviously sound difference! :11:
