Hi there,

I guess puppies are up first? Got a large smooth (adult) bitch and would like to show her - will her class be after the puppies?

Who's the judge? Any other qualifiers available?

Many thanks

My father in law lives in Fareham, so we'll be dragging our ugly mutts down there! Head down his for the day then stop in on on the way home.

So if you see a pestered husband, being nagged by wife and child and dragged about by two unruly dogs, then feel sorry for me and buy me a pint!!! :D

Cheers

Luke.

Hi

I have posted this for organisers, but puppies are always 1st in the ring at their shows, as regards the judge, he is from Hayling Island, cannot remember his surname, but 1st name is Tim, very experienced lurcher man & has judged before. Normally only a Chatsworth qualifier. The New Forest spring show on Apr 19th is also NLRC qualifier & Midland Game Fair. If you need any more info best to ring Annette Drodge on above number...hope this of help...

Just got back, having a cuppa, then bed.

I didn't get to see the whole show as I was stuck in the Lurcher room but my wife had a quick walk round and managed to get me some Stalking just outside Somerton! (god I love that woman!!! )

It wasn't huge but they had most things you could need on sale from rings and thread to make purse nets to Ferret boxes, slip leads and Decoys.

The Lurcher show was pretty well attended so a bit packed! also quite hot so a few dogs lost their temper whilst waiting and a game little beddy whippet had a snap at Tia, but I managed to find a corner to hide her in (not worried about Tia getting hurt, just that she might get fed up and answer back!) but nothing to worry about, she behaved perfectly and just sat on my coat and ignored them.

Watched proceedings next to a guy that won the Lure race in Crewcerne last year. 'Big & ugly' would never win a beauty contest but we entered him in over 23" smooth dog (won by the Crewcerne, lure race winner) and the working condition classes anyway, not even coming close to a second glance from the Judge! :clapper: as expected their were a few of the string lead brigade, placing the dogs feet just so and pulling the string tight behind the ears to lift it's head  but hey ho, each to their own!

After the judging of the working dogs an old fella next to me stomped off cussing "that judge has picked the only three bloody dogs in the ring that didn't have a mark on em, and have probably never done a days work in their lives!!!" Not a happy chap! (I think he had been standing their all night waiting for that one class!)

Still at the end of the night it was all a bit of fun, I got to socialise the dogs and even got a few compliments on 'Even Bigger & Uglier' (Tia) on what a nice looking, boxer she was!!! :clapper:

Cheers

Luke

Well done both of you! I didn't get to see much of the ring as so many people were in the way, so no I missed her, sorry. I was stood in the back corner with Tia (Tan Bullmastiff with Red Strongstuff collar) and Roo (Brindle Bull X) I'm from South Somerset, Wincanton area.
