Kay 3,709
if you think about it the thin parts on the top of the neck when there on a lead anyway as the d rings on that bit, i know through recent experience how quick they can get out of a collar , no matter how tight its on them, i got an extra long lead & noose it round the dogs neck if i spot a small dog in eye sight & then to control his back end i cock my leg over his middle & just apply a little pressure from my thighs thats enough to stop him throwing his back end out I had to learn quick & on my toes when i had the bitch so thats what i do with the dog who is a bugger for small dogs but as he is muzzled as well most people lead up there dogs when they spot the muzzle if there running loose anyway thankfully Quote Link to post

bud9 79
i was told it was to support the neck, is the thick part suposed to be on top of the dogs neck or underneath? the thick part is for under the dogs neck why do you think the thin part has the clip to put the lead on to Quote Link to post
wild rover 548
just wondering if it matters that the fat bit of the leather collar keeps on going to the bottom when i run my colliexgrey.....may sound like a silly question but just wondering Get rid, never liked them, train your dog to work off the slip or get a thin elasticated material and put a length of thin rope through it, weave a handle into one end and pull it out when slipping. I dont own a collar of any description, just use a slip over lead. Quote Link to post
bullmastiff 615
I presume the thick part of the Collar is to protect the greyhounds throat when it pulls on the lead? Quote Link to post
lurchergrrl 1,441
When properly fitted, the collar should sit at the top of the neck behind the ears. You should only be able to get two, maybe three fingers under the collar and it should be snug fitting. It'll turn round on the neck tho, and that doesn't matter one bit Quote Link to post
paul the poacher 2
just wondering if it matters that the fat bit of the leather collar keeps on going to the bottom when i run my colliexgrey.....may sound like a silly question but just wondering when i run my dogs i run them with no collar i dont think it hinders the dog in anyway its just if i was sprinting and wearing a chain if it was sliding up and down my neck it would do my head in lol Quote Link to post
Jack NUFC 1
as said jen the fat bits only too prevent it from choking when pulling nothing to do with support Quote Link to post
harddigging 42
dont take this as gossple but i beleive the greyhound collar is designed the way it is to work certain muscles on the dog while exercised. as for spinning round they allways do its not a problem Quote Link to post
