Guest mickyrichardson
Been up again today for a look for them but sadly no signs at all I am as gutted as Col is and just hope that the ferrets will be ok on their own, we have spoke to the farmer and he is going to keep his eyes peeled for us, there was a few holes left uncovered as it was pitch black by the time we finished last night so they could of got out and made it elsewhere, only thing I can think of is they were both on a kill and over 15ft deep. we are unlikely to be out again for a while due to lack of ferrets and collars so here's to hoping my 2 jills come into season soon and we can breed some new stock, I have got a few photo's of the dogs on my phone from when we started and everything was going ok but a bit reluctant to post them up do the crapness of the day, anyway out next weekend on another permission where 99% of the rabbits are above ground, no ferrets though just the dogs and a Harris hawk sorry to hear about your stinkers lads keep the faith Quote Link to post
Brimmer 220
Stick at it lads they may turn up yet. If you need a hob I have one you can have, one of this years. Have you still got a collar? You could try putting a line on a hob with a locater collar on, only let it go 6 ft at a time, locate it and dig to the tube, then do the same again. Best of luck fellers, if you need a hand give us a shout. Quote Link to post

Col has now got 5 hobs as he has just got another 2 tonight I have 2 jills but one is retired as she is about 6 year old We prefer using jills but maybe that is where we are going wrong as the rabbits up there seem to extract the urine from us and won't budge. only 1 collar left mate, I'm gonna try and get saved up for a mk3 setup, time to move on with technology. As for the hob on a line I think we would need a JCB to dig it out, we aren't scared of digging but this set is on top of a hill and has the potential to go about 25-30 foot down and is mostly rock. Brimmer 220
The jills sound the way to go on the deep stuff like that John, sounds like its a bit to much to dig. Quote Link to post
col g 0
i dont think tnt would make an impact on that sett mate.as you know we dug a good majority of it and came up blank.the only thing i can think is that the tubes have ran down the bank and went over he 15ft markso they could have been away before we realised there was out wrong.as i said yesterday,i can understand one ferret doing the disapearing act,but two at the same time.something doesnt add up Quote Link to post
John-B 4
we will be back, and when we are we will be stronger than ever, when we were speaking to the farmer tonight he was asking us if we had got rid of any rabbits from his problem area? he wants rid of them as you can't even walk above the sets as you fall through, so we need to get back on out feet sharpish and i'm sure we will, you can have a go digging for us if you want, i've heard your middle name is digger Quote Link to post
