col g 0
been back in the house just over half an hour after the day from hell.we managed nine rabbits but they count for nothing.done a few new settson some land in a neighbouring field to our permission.we started off ok catching a few.we moved on to a sett on an embankment and netted up.after waiting a good while we got a rabbit to bolt then everything went quiet.my ferrets came back to the surface but johns was missing.we took the nets off and left johns ferret box beside the sett.after waiting about an hour or so we returned to johns erret box and his ferret was safely tucked up sound asleep.we decided to work an eleven hole sett under neath a wall with holes to both sides.we netted up and entered my two jills.after a few minuites we had a couple of rabbits hit the nets.there was still a rabbit left in and my young jill was in hot pursuit.we followed the progress with the rabbit being really vocal as it was running round the sett then everything went quiet.i thought to myself "the ferrets have nailed this " and out came the locator box.after sweeping the sett and surrounding area it drew a blank.not a bleep on the locator.we hunted the sett from about 2 pm til roughly 7 o clock and we still didnt get a location.to say im fecking sick as a chip is an understatement, two ferrets missing and the collar gone aswell.weve filled all the holes in that we could and were back up there tomorrow to see if we can get the two jills back.ive got my fingers crossed that we do .heres hoping Quote Link to post

John-B 4
Been up again today for a look for them but sadly no signs at all I am as gutted as Col is and just hope that the ferrets will be ok on their own, we have spoke to the farmer and he is going to keep his eyes peeled for us, there was a few holes left uncovered as it was pitch black by the time we finished last night so they could of got out and made it elsewhere, only thing I can think of is they were both on a kill and over 15ft deep. we are unlikely to be out again for a while due to lack of ferrets and collars so here's to hoping my 2 jills come into season soon and we can breed some new stock, I have got a few photo's of the dogs on my phone from when we started and everything was going ok but a bit reluctant to post them up do the crapness of the day, anyway out next weekend on another permission where 99% of the rabbits are above ground, no ferrets though just the dogs and a Harris hawk Quote Link to post
