breeding ferrets

Recommended Posts

It aint cruel, if its done at birth. If you want to breed your ferrets, for the line quality then you will only want a couple. So knock the rest on the head. I dont expect any of yous would find killing a rabbit cruel, so why not killing a ferret.

I didn't say it was cruel. It's just unneccessary. :wallbash:

Someone did a count of the ferrets on offer on this site last season. It came to around 400, the majority of which were bred from 'a good line'. So if the fella needs to expand the team there's plenty of opportunity there.

And it suggests that the ferretting world needs more breeding like it needs a hole in the head.

blooming heck :icon_eek: 400....i supose if he wants more ferrets why not give a few of that 400 a home rather than adding to that number

Good for you mate.

Nice to see someone considering the consequences before they breed :clapper:

Do you go ferreting Droid? Because if you do, then you would realise if you have a very good line, that you should keep it going. If it means keeping a few, and killing the ones which arent to your satisfaction, then so be it. Thats how the extraordinary ferrets are bred.

Just because you go ferreting or have a good lines no excuse for breeding and even if you do how many replacement ferrets do you need so you will get away with breeding every 4or 5 years .If you do breed them they will eat as much as a small africain nation and three quarters of them will likely be hobs that you cant shift and will be left with .

Ive twelve ferrets here and only one jill and one snipped hob ive breed myself its a dam site easier getting a couple off somebody who's bred a litter than raising your own

Yeh the same old ferreters that used to snap teeth feed slops and starve there ferrets for days before taking them out for a days sport and not handling them and keeping them vioucous mate you want to take most of what you think you know forget it then start from scratch because you have obviously been tought by somebody that doesnt have a clue.

You dont catch an average of 50 + a day out if you dont know nothing now do you  and he isnt into that as he uses locators and is an Ex pestie. good old chap, just not so talented with moles apparently :boogie:

Will, just accept that you were wrong and stop trying to argue back. I havn't yet read a single post agreeing with what you said in your first couple of posts and you're just digging yourself into a bigger and bigger hole. Just bite your lip and accept defeat mate.
