Hi Your pup should be showing the start of his retrieiving skills, I start them off in the kitchen, with no distractions, on rolled up socks them move on to the small puppy dummies these are pillow shaped and weigh a half a pound. then I put them on toggle dummies with the toggle taken off. http://www.sportingsaint.co.uk/product_list/25 Quote Link to post

MTS 0
thanks mate ive been throwing a ball for him in the house and hees bringing it back loely il buy a dummie soon Hi It's just an easy progression on to proper one pound dummies, I don't know your training but please don't be in too much of a rush to get him on fur and feather..you might have problems with him not want to go back to normal dummies and them you could be stuffed with his retrieve training...stick to dummies for now..I would. coldweld 65
Don't rush !!!!!!!!! Sit, stay,Come and Heal are all you need for 9 months. Play with the socks by all means but don't rush or do to much dummy work. If you do to much to soon you will end up with a dog that is not steady and will run in thinking every retrieve is his. Until you can stop him when you want every time and he will sit and stay when you want him to then is the time to start using the dummy . Remember the dog should have a good 10 years of work so a few months wait will be worth it. Good luck and have FUN remember he's still only a pup. Quote Link to post
