Little Butch 16
I've had my Baikal 12 bore o/u for a while now and have been doing a bit of Clay Shooting (going again this Satuday) I plan to do all sorts of Shooting Including, Rough, Driven Pheasant, Decoying, Wild Fowling etc.. Anybody know what Choke this Gun usually comes In? Also, what would be the best Choke for my kind of Shooting? Cheers, Butch Quote Link to post
Sterry 0
Im not sure what the choke they use but i would suggest a cylinder and a 1/4, Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
I think you could pick up a Baikal of the exact same model and "listed" spec, that was made two minutes after each other and they would still have different chokes. Next time you go to your local gunny, take it with you and ask him to check it for you with his Micrometer, to tell you the amount of restriction from the bore size to the muzzle. He'll then convert that into the standard choke sizes for you roughly. I.e. Skeet = 0.005th of restriction though to Full = approx 0.040th of restriction. SS Quote Link to post
Little Butch 16
Oh right, I'll be In the Gunsmiths to pick some Cartridges up soon so I'll get him to tell me.. Cheers, Butch Quote Link to post

Cheers, Butch they are 3/4 and full choke mate you will want 1/4 and half for rough shooting cheers dooson Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
Still say take it to your Gunny and get an accurate measurement. I have an older S/S Baikal, IJ-58, It's listed at 1/4 3/4, turned out 3/8 and Extra full. SS Quote Link to post
The one 8,477
That sounds like my gun which is full and half supposed to be Quote Link to post
Little Butch 16
I'll get It checked by the Gunsmith.. So I take It Full Choke's good for Foxes etc but for Rough Shooting you want something with more Spread? Butch Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
I wouldn't say Full for Foxes myself as you are likely to be firing heavy loads of large shot, which through Full tends to give you a blown pattern. I stick to 1/2 when shooting foxes, 36gr of BB or AAA. For Rough Shooting 1/4 and 1/2 suffices Quote Link to post
Little Butch 16
I'll be pissed off If my Gun turns out to be Choked to something that Is not suited to my Shooting! Butch Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
If it's tight, it can always be opened up Quote Link to post
