air gun price

You can pay thirty quid for a Chinese air rifle. If you're lucky you'll get one that can do close to 12ft/lbs. If you're average you'll get one that does 8. No amount of extra cash on tuning is going to make it any better as you can't polish a turd.

You can pay two hundred for a decent German air rifle. It'll give consistency because it's made with better components and machined to specific tolerances. Chinese air rifles tend to built by Chinese convicts, in the Chinese prison system. German rifles tend to be built by decent engineers, in decent factories, with decent equipment. With an FAC they're capable of up to 25 ft/lbs and have a market outside the UK that caters for air rifles that aren't restricted by our laws.

You can pay five hundred for a top line PCP. I have a Rapid Mk2 on FAC. It's more or less identical to the 12 ft/lbs version except that mine will do 80ft/lbs instead of 12. I have far less in usable shots but I don't care because I like the quirks of this particular rifle and I bought it because I'm weird like that.

Shin Sung make the Career707 and also the extreme Dragon Slayer, which isn't available in this country to my knowledge. It'll do 190+ft/lbs and launch a 200grain slug at around 570fps.

It comes down to personal preference. Yes, the UK limit is 12 ft/lbs but what a rifle is worth to you, is down to you. A car can only travel at 70mph legally but a decent car, made with quality components, and a reputation for reliability, is preferable to a cheap piece of shit, isn't it?

the above statment is right yes but with guns the legal limit is 12 with cars they will do 100 or more thats normal.

if thats the case they sould make all air guns up to 25 ft and say the limit is 12 if you turn it up and get seen doing it you get find.

we do withy cars.

what i was saying to start with the guns i have are not cheep well i dont think so £400

all i was askingf will they kill more no one can answer it

as always it is the man behind the gun !!!!!

but, with a more expensive gun you get reliability, availability of spares , decent wood and materials.

there are the exceptions of the " friday afternoon " guns even fom the top makers.

the best way i can put it is........................

a 30 quid springer will be ok out of the box , but would probably be running 1/2 its ft lbs after a couple of tins of pellets and you won,t be able to have it repaired. a 800 quid PCP ...........well you know the rest !!!!

the answer to your quetion is NO.........but it will for longer !!!!!

all the best

Only just come to this and not read everything but I think I have the idea.

The answer is simple, try a cheap springer and then an expensive PCP and you will answer your own question...the rest has been said...!!!

yup its up to u mate i learnt the hard way insted of not taking a mates advice and going for the s410 i bought 2 different guns first and then bough the s410 and i just wasted my time basically as i should have just got the s410 in the first place...

another good thing which i find is if for some reason my quarry isnt dead, like a squirrel for example you cant really pick them up and despatch them by hand so with having a 10 shot its half the time it would take with a spring rifle. i do generally kill first time and dont shoot unless i feal comfortable that i can achieve a clean kill but there are circumstances where i dont and therefor i want to despatch the animal as fast as i can... which is where the 10shot is handy....

You do have away with words Chris dont you,, lol,, Now then,,, dont you go slagging our little Chinese gun makers or you will have a hole lot of people on here calling you a R@&kcist you know whooooooooo,,,, but I dont understand about your post Chris why would you spend all that money on a 80FPE Rapid when you could get a rimmy for a fraction of the cost????? and no worries about bottles and the like,,,

Rob. :hmm:

:clapper:

The B2 is a piece of shit whichever way you call it.

As for the Rapid... I'm an eccentric and I wanted to see how usable something like that is. I could've got a rimmy, but I could've got Ford Focus as well. I settled on an old 87 Range Rover with a leaky roof. :D

It's the same with airguns though. All can be made to go over the limit because they're sold in places that aren't subject to British law. You can tune the majority of guns over the 12 limit but our laws state that you need to be punished, harsher than a speeder, if you don't have the right paperwork.

Will they kill more?

Depends on how often you shoot it. The only factor that makes a difference there is the shooter. It's not the gun, that's just a tool, it's whether you get out and use it to it's potential. I know more old timers, with good old workhorses, that do the real deal stuff than all these people with the latest PCP and expensive optics. It boils down to how much you can justify spending on your gear.

It always is about who pulls the trigger.

B2 = Thirty Five Quid

HW97 = Three Hundred and Thirty Five Quid

HW100 = Seven Hundred Quid.

I believe that the HW97 is three hundred pounds better than the B2.

I also believe that HW100 is three hundred and sixty pounds better than the HW97, and six hundred and sixty five pounds better than the B2. :D

Is that any clearer? :D

been shooting for over 20 years and its getting to the stage were i need to ask a question

can any one tell me why you can get an air gun for £300 and then pay £ 700 for anothere they are all set at the legal limit of 12 ft max.

so why pay the extra is it just the name

John

You can buy timex for a tenner or a rolex for 5 grand,, they all tell the time,,, same with anything mate,,

Rob.

yes but they both tell the time dont they all im asking is is it image and not what you want its just we like to look good want kill anything more or less will they

yeah,

I agree with this, its a status thing even though i must admit there is reasons for some stuff like daystate and ripley,

daystate is stae of the art electronics and most advanced and ripleys are hand built but then you come to theoben?why they so expensive?the mk1 dont even have a regulator "which is another reason for higher price's".

It's getting to be a status thing but i could put money i could kill more rabbits with a 5year old lightning springer then any daystate/theoben/ripley owner which i think is the original posters point.

I got a b2,I got 2 of them 1st ever things i bought.

americans can make these shoot well but out the box there not so good, heavy trigger and crap bluing but lets get to the point can it do same job as 1000 quid rifle? yea it can if the shooter can shoot it with out busting his finger and shoulder :clapper:
