Guest buster
Just wondering what peoples opinions are obout food. Is it best 2 feed meat all the time or 2 mix with a high protien dried food Meat is good but there is some good dry food out there. I used to give my dog raw meat i find you are forever worming them. Before there was dry food alot of greyhound racers used to feed them meat, veg and brown bread that is a good meal, i swear by chudleys working dog crunch not the mix crunch is the best, my dogs look brilliant on it they have bags of energy, decent clean teeth and shiny coat. parkstone 24
i'd always fed compleat food to our dogs (Lurchers, Greyhounds, Whippets) around 6 months ago we changed the whippets over to raw meat (Beef/Tripe) raw blended veg and pasta/rice, with a little calcium powder & Faramo Greyhound (multi vitamins). Their coats improved their mannorisms improved they seemed more sensible and responsive but their form sreopped off and they seemed to be struggling in their races. 2 weeks ago we changed back to red mills racer and within 6 days they had regained their previous form and now are back to their old selves. the food is the only differance their training ect remained the same. juckler123 707
Have to agree with that a quality varied diet every time i get em used to all types of food chicken, beef tripe and horse if i can get it i also put onion and garlic in with it never tried redmills so cant comment on it but i didnt like the greyhound complete meals i have tried as me dogs seemed to carry too much weght in their guts and they used too drink like feck after coursing so ive stuck to the brown bread [stale loaves from the bakers] i just dry it out in the airing cupboard or outside if its sunny. I give em eggs and milk cornflakes and cod liver oil for breakfast or when they get back in i reckon if your getting the results you require dont mess Quote Link to post
Guest markbrick1
all dogs are differant and what suits one doesnt suit another i thinkwhat max said is about right.I feed all my dogs togeather but i had one that would only pick at the meal and would never realy eat bagged food she was only interested in meat raw cooked wat ever. When i was a young boy i was taught by the older ones if they are hungry they will eat it. if they wont jump over it they will find away round it well i might practice that a bit but not completly. Thanks mark Quote Link to post

Guest reload
Feed fresh food it 100% better that dry. Mixing dry and wet foods together is a pointless excersise even tho many do this, it does not mean it right at all. Its just very few people know how to feed there dog properly anymore the word COMPLETE means everything, so why oh why add stuff to it??????? in my book you either feed dry or wet/fresh foods, but mixing the two with deep chested breeds can be very dangerous and a large waste of time. skinnyrat 0
i have also read that mixing kibble and raw is bad due to different digestion rates, the kibble causing the raw to hang up in the gut, causing problems, but this may just be an old wifes tale, good hunting Skinnyrat Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
feeding dry complete is just convenient simple as .... how can a scientificly manufactured meal be be better than natural raw flesh and veg .... it cant ... the same as powdered babys milk is not a s good as natural breast milk .... as for all the so called vitamins and minerals put into dry food .... that happens before the cooking proces so most of them are killed of .... the protein levels in dry food are calculated not only from the meat contaent but from the ash and all the other crap thrown in there aswell .... fresh fresh and more fresh ........
