gilly-93 31
Just seen these pups advertised in the countrymans weekly, just about to get my first dog for rabbiting. What do you think about this cross, never seen one advertised before with Spaniel in it. What are the qualitys of this breed? Any input would be more than welcome. The pups are 6 weeks old and are going for £150. Quote Link to post

dodger 2,761
I reckon they will be bang on for the rabbits lad, should have alot of fun with one of those. Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Should be handy dogs for a bit of ferreting & bushing. Quote Link to post
Lennard 10
Eh what good qualities does the spaniel add to the whippet? L Quote Link to post
DIGGIT 6
I think the spaniel will put to much nose on the dog, if your looking for a dog with a bit of nose on it, you may aswell go for a terrier cross, then you get balls and nose for the same money, somthing like a bedlington out cross. good luck if you go for the spanile cross. Malt 379
Eh what good qualities does the spaniel add to the whippet? L It wouldn't be a lamping machine, but I'd have thought it might give it a better nose for marking rabbit buries, plus a bit of drive for pushing rabbits out of cover. Might even excel at catching the odd pheasant.. Who knows, might turn out to be a bag of wank! Quote Link to post
The one 8,476
The spanniel might add nose and a bit of drive in cover but surely slow it down a bit ? Quote Link to post
bird 9,873
If i was you, i would go for a whippetxgrey x collie grey. They are proven workers, good on all game save your money , and wait till a good litter comes up. Quote Link to post

I think it's more of a ferreting/mooching dog he's after, rather than a full on all rounder. Correct me if I'm wrong Gilly mate! Quote Link to post
