3/4 Laguna Whippet Greyhound x 1/4 Spaniel

Recommended Posts

Just seen these pups advertised in the countrymans weekly, just about to get my first dog for rabbiting.

What do you think about this cross, never seen one advertised before with Spaniel in it.

What are the qualitys of this breed?

Any input would be more than welcome.

The pups are 6 weeks old and are going for £150. :victory:

I think the spaniel will put to much nose on the dog, if your looking for a dog with a bit of nose on it, you may aswell go for a terrier cross, then you get balls and nose for the same money, somthing like a bedlington out cross.

good luck if you go for the spanile cross.

Eh what good qualities does the spaniel add to the whippet?

L

It wouldn't be a lamping machine, but I'd have thought it might give it a better nose for marking rabbit buries, plus a bit of drive for pushing rabbits out of cover.

Might even excel at catching the odd pheasant.. :whistling:

Who knows, might turn out to be a bag of wank! :D

If i was you, i would go for a whippetxgrey x collie grey. They are proven workers, good on all game save your money , and wait till a good litter comes up. ;)

bird's right mate look at you options, also you need to think about the ground your running on, is it open in a big space or is it like horse padocks small tight space.

is it just rabbits your running or bigger things.

work that out then get a dog that works the best in that environment.

I think it's more of a ferreting/mooching dog he's after, rather than a full on all rounder.

Correct me if I'm wrong Gilly mate! :D
