Mistyka 0
There is a lady in the North East breeding them but she isn't American. www.angoraferret.co.uk Quote Link to post
snipe1000yrds 0
People breeding for looks, thats when the trouble starts, and the purity goes out of it, the real people get priced out of the game, 10 years ago my Jack Russel cost me £20 and a pint now that they have been renamed The "Parson Jack " By the Fecking Kennel Club pups start at around £250. I hope this dont happen to ferreting. Anyway with the Angora with hair like that you wont be able to work them but you will have the cleanest drain pipes in the county. Quote Link to post
The one 8,480
Aye i cant see how they would help or benefit us but they would get a nice red rosette in a show Quote Link to post
angoraferret 0
Hi i have several angora ferrets and we also breed them and the eu poley. Thye make great pets and i cannot see why you wouldn't be able to take them out to work in the dry weather as long as you spent a little time on their coats afterward, as i am sure all you responsble working guys do anyway, we don't want ferrets sitting wet cold and muddy do we. We will have several litters for sale this year and they also include the long haired ( 3/4 angora ) which does not have the nose cleft. Its true they do not produce enough millk to nurse there young but it is something that we hope to breed out in the uk. One of mine lives indoos and she is the one of the softest ferrets i have ever had. And yup they make good drain cleaners. Edited February 7, 2009 by angoraferret Quote Link to post

Aye, not to worry. All mine get a hot bath, a pedicure & a damn good brushing after a hard mornings graft. Quote Link to post

With this not enough milk job, does anyone foster the angora ferrets out at birth with different mothers? Quote Link to post
angoraferret 0
We use a surrogate mother to help raise the kits, the angora jills are bonded with an older jill and they raise babies together. Quote Link to post
Funfuret 1
Someone on another forum said that some breeders kill the non Angora kits when they put the Angora kits with the foster mum. I suppose some might to help ensure the money making Angora kits thrive. Who knows. Quote Link to post
Mistyka 0
I heard that as well Ruth. Quote Link to post
Funfuret 1
I do accept (and hope) that the majority of Angora breeders are probably animals lovers and don't do that but there will always be the one who do just breed for commercial reasons and puts money before compassion I just wish people would be happy with the ferret as it is. You can't beat a standard 'bino or poley IMO Maybe if people want something superfluffy then they should consider get a chinchilla or something else that come naturally fluffy, rather than encouraging breeders to breed animals that are basically mutants and carry unhealthy genes. Guest SJM
Surely if they suffer from reproductive problems, poor mothering, not enough milk etc this is a blindingly obvious example of natural selection trying to tell you somethings not right? I use the word blindingly because the lengths people go to, to keep genetically abnormal things alive just to make money, never ceases to amaze me Quote Link to post
