dogman89 0
i just went out to get my 13week old pup and his penis had come out right the way from the base. i phoned 2 emergency vets and one of them said to put the dog in a coldish bath with a small amount of fairy liquid. so hes in there now but has anyone else come across this before cause i freaked out when i saw it like? the vets said it could take over 45mins for it to go back to normal atb
skycat 6,173
Just put some warm baby oil, or even warm vegetable oil on it and gently pull the skin of the sheath back over it: but be VERY gentle!
dogman89 0
sorted now and hopefully it never happens again. i kept it in the bath with fairy liquid for just over an hour and still no sign of it going back in. i phoned my own vet but the silly bitch was out galivanting so i phoned another emergency vet and she said she would met me at her surgery in 20mins. the vet had to use a fair amount of presure and forceps to get it back in but it sorted. £88 it cost me and £50 of that was just to open the plae up

wink hound 0
its not that un common......... a good bit of lube and they genrally go back in..... the bath idea works normally when they think they have tied with a bitch but not generally when its actually come all they way out... 2 diffrent things. Bevwallis 7
Had this problem before with a young Stafford. In the end hormaone jabs stopped it happening . If left outside too long the danger is damage to such a sensitive area

If left outside too long the danger is damage to such a sensitive area thats what the vet said, she said this one dog the owner had left it over night and the next day it was really bad, apparently it can actually start to die (the penis that is). theres also a gland at the bottom of the inside and it had come out to so it was a vet job. J Darcy 5,871
The problem with pups is...the sheath has not developed enough to allow free morement, so if the lipstick pops out then the poor little pup cannot get it back in again as it "locks " out. the best method is some vaseline and just firmly "wank" it back into place. It will go with a "pop" but the dog wont be damaged. If it ever happens when there is no lube available spit ion your hand as much as you can first before touching it.....hope this helps.....JD
