akton 15
Fellow mole catchers pestys or hunters First of all I am looking for moletraps, something that is reliable, wont break, and will most importantly catch the targetted mole/s. There is quality and price, many of the traps you see on ebay are crap chinese tinplate rubbish with inferior springs and stuff, I have seen quite a few different types and all at different prices, duffus scissor and pro scissor I am looking at buying at least 10 of, so need some decent prices and most of all advice on which type ta lads Edited January 25, 2009 by akton Quote Link to post
Matt 160
It depends on what type of trap you are after. JohnB is going to sell some Fenn Scissor traps (very good), his website is: http://www.fourteenacre.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/, and I think he will also sell Talpex and Flatpack half barrels. The Flatpack mole traps have a good reputation, and can be found here: https://id503.securepod.com/theflatpack.co....nager/index.php Quote Link to post
john b 38
I'd also happily endorse the FLATPACK company. I've had their half barrels which are excelent quality and require minimal 'tuning' in my experienc. Price varies according to quantity but if you follow the link Matt posted you'll see the packages available. The price is about £3.50 plus carriage. I've not used the FENNs yet but their reputation is a solid one. I am hoping to make them available at about £5.50 each plus Postage - I'd do you 10 for £50 plus postage. Talpex are the current favourite amongst the pros though. I think Killgerm sell them. Hope that helps. Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,693
Talpex are the current favourite amongst the pros though. I think Killgerm sell them. Not this one John, Duffus everytime, and i mean the real ones made by Bethel Rhodes not ANY copies!. Talpex you will only ever catch one mole in, if i had a quid for every double i have had in a duffus i would be buying another new Landy this year. Regards Mole Trapper. Quote Link to post

Just out of interest have you seen the FLATPACK ones ? Was there anything specific you didn't like about them ? Quote Link to post
Matt 160
Here is a link to the Talpex from Killgerm. Barrettine also sell the genuine Talpex, but beware! Some other companies are selling cheap far eastern copies of the Talpex. The Fenns have a loyal following amongst some professionals, but I think that the Duffus is still the favourite. Just out of interest have you seen the FLATPACK ones ? Was there anything specific you didn't like about them ? Yes John, bought 50 about two years ago to try them, threw them away about six months later as they had completley rusted, "you wont get that with the Bethel ones" had words with flatpack, they refused to accept there was a problem, then about six months later they were advertising them as having the new super duper coating. They sent me a sample to try again a few months back, the jury is still out. Ordered another 100 REAL ones last week, they should be here monday or tuesday. In fairness to flatpack, the springs seem ok, except on the first lot which also rusted away, the traps need little adjusting. The Bethel Rhodes need quite a bit of tweaking before use, BUT i can genuinly say i have traps here ten years old and they have no rust what so ever and the springs although not as strong as new ones are still very effective. IanB 0
The fenn traps are ok and have there uses...but don't kill the moles as quickly as the duffus style barrel traps.... Whats classed as a pro anyway these days? Most of the people who make a living round these parts use the duffus style traps... Heres some Fenn scissor traps from John Dee, £3.50 a pop for anyone wanting a bargain.. Here Quote Link to post
