It wasn't a joke.

I've been to Loch Lomond a few times. Do u knw of Cameron house?

Hi Orvis,I know the Cameron house hotel not the kind of place you would find your run of the mill guy ,costs you an arm and a leg just for a pint,to many Hurdy Hur's

A lot of the footballers go there, atb NID.

i have shot on the golf course there, never stayed

damn right expensive.

Do u go to Lomond often?

Hi Orvis, i try to go at the right times ie when the females are spawning and they tend to come into the shallows, like fishing for them in winter too.

Try to split the time between Balmaha, loch Awe and the Venacher,to be honest i'am hoping to do better this season at the Venacher, some markings on the fish from there.atb Ned.

PS. Lomond gets most fishing as i only stay 1 hour from there.atb Ned.

loch lomond is grate a go camping fishing there every year and ma uncle cout a 40 pound pike hes 6 ft 4 and the pike was the lengh of his leg

Sorry, but i'm not having it!! Please show the pic's of the 40lber. If he had had a 40 from lomond he would be well up there amongst the great anglers! It has done very few 40's over the last 200yrs of fish being recorded!

99% of lomond pike are lean. And a 20lber out of lomond is the length of my leg, a 27lb+ fish out of lomond is an exceptional fish. One of 35Lb may appear every 10yrs!! And a 30 out of lomond is near 3/4 the length of me pal....

Now lads about the livey hook situation, i didnt mean hook all your liveys through the tail. Unless it is a good jack. I didnt put how to hook them sorry...

Every pike (99%) angler hooks there live through the top lip, right. Well dont, hook it through the bottom lip! just use 1 treble or a single hook. The fish will never die/,,,, simple. its brain is near it top lip, hence , dieing.....dont be scared to use one hook, you'll be surprised hook many fish you land...

Venachar just doesnt have the amount of big fish that lomond has all gathering at the same time in the same place....

Loch Awe can chuck you more 20lb+ fish in a morning that anywhere else. The clips go down one after another if the fish are feeding and your in the right place, The bays at either end are good places to start. I have seen more dead water on AWE than i have in any other water. We went 4.2miles with out seeing a fish on the echo sounder! Imagine if you were sat on the bank bivvied up. lol...

(problem with AWE if you are a livebaiter is, it is very difficult!)

The fish are mean long fighting machines tho, you have been warned, lol...

Hi Russ been fishing Lomond for close on 30 years and agree with what your saying about amount of fish in same place,ie. spawning no where will beat lomond for that, but the Venacher does'nt take the hammering that in recent years have been all to common place on Lomond and loch Awe,there's a lot of lochs further north if you are prepared to travel and do your homework on that might produce a surprize.

my favourite place will always be loch lomond because of the memory's over the years, atb NID.

PS.Another great Pike water is the Laggan, but at the end of the day they are all great if you hit them at the right time.

Well when i was fishing venachar 20yrs ago the attention it got from the scottish was something else and the litter was disgraceful. I have done a bit of guideing around the trossachs and it is@nt the greatest big pike producing area that scottland has to offer, altho the scenery is still nice, and 20lbers out of loch ARD are breath takingly beautiful but very hard to come by. It makes me laugh when people say lomond has been hammered. It is impossible to hammer a 24mile long water. If you sail the length of it in a day on a boat i would garantee that you wouldnt see more than 5 pike anglers on it, apart from in the bays at either end, then your struggling to see more than 20. The fish generally only see hook baits in these areas, so to say it is hammered is totally wrong as the fish can move away when ever they like if they are starting to fel presured... Your right NID, about hitting them right mate. Cheers Russ

And as for people saying that Lomond , Awe and waters of that size have been hammers makes me laugh. It is impossible to hammer A 24mile long water. I would place a bet with anybody that on a mormal day, if they boated the length of lomond they would see no more than 5 pike anglers apart from in the 2 bays at either end(alltho there are many other bays). The only time the majority of these bay caught pike she a hook bait is when they move in to one of these bays. And they can move out of the bays back into the deep water when ever they like, and not be seen for another year, or never again..

Proof of this is when you motor up the loch to a few hidden away bays and fish them. You start to catch fighting mad hard big teeth predators with no angling marks on them(full mouth of teeth at 20lb is a sure way to tell it hasnt had a wire trsace in its mouth)....

I had a day out on the drop off fishing livebaits under bungs once. All day i watched a guy wadeing about the shallows casting a lure. He walked in and out of everyones peg. I wasnt to worried. We motored back in. I hooked up a livebait roach of about 1lb 4 oz, did a wade of around 15oyrds, dropped the roach inabout 4 feet of water. walked back, clipped up. 5 mins, Bang, bobbin flew off, 10mins later a 27lber lay in the net. My mate then went onto catch a 21lber and lose amuch bigger fish at the net, i then had a 22lber and all this happened within 90mins of us comeing back and the fella walking all over the shallows in his waders. Well if those fish were hammered, they would have left that bay like shit of a shovel.....lol....

that must be 3 an half ft long what did that top the scales at rfyl :clapper:

It was an inch under 4ft! and went 27lb+. Thats they longest fish i could find from Loch awe. I did hit the magic mark from Awe in the early 90's but the fish is shorter than this one...
