Hollie 21
Yesterday i was walking Kylo (5 month old Lurcher) if we are not near a road he is off lead, no problems, good as gold, anyway, we met a couple walking their whippet, the whippet was young, about 12 months and the woman told me that they can't let her off the lead because she chases things........................ It makes me so mad that people buy dogs and then never allow them off lead time, this poor dog was desperate to play and have a run with Kylo, back to the rudness............she said to me ''he is very good off the lead AT THE MOMENT, he will soon start running off like she does'' (in a snotty voice) Today, we were out and a lady with a big FAT lab was admiring him then turned round and said ''he is very nice but he needs a good meal'' as though i don't feed him!!! Why can't people just keep their mouths shut, especially when they own an overweight dog What stupid comments have you guys had about your dogs??
mad al 146
Jealousy due to their lack of knowledge of any breeds I'd say, try to let it go over your head,I usually don't reply to anybody who doesn't come straight over and get down to meet the mutts. I always have aggro over the Rottie and Shar Pei's and that is pure ignorance from sad individuals. Another good thing is to just stare in silence at something in the distance over one of their shoulders.............works every time
Kay 3,709
I think you have to use your common sence , its not always possible to let the dogs here have a run everyday , if i am lucky i may get 2 walks a week where there arnt any other dogs about , i would rather them stay on the lead than end up in trouble over one or both killing some ones dog

I like to play on the cautious side its bad enough when dogs approach me while i am out, the dog here is a swine for eyeing up smaller dogs & i have seen how quick he grabs them Even muzzled i am still wary because he is like lightening
JordKil 0
I had an experience with some old bag when I was ferreting MY PRIVATE road and she comes up with a fat collie thing and seen what I was doing and at first spat and walked past in a huff. I just glared and carried on. Then on the way back she saw me talking to somebody about what I was doing and she went right up in my face and said "ferrting pfft! your f*****g disgusting! you should be ashamed of yourself chasing poor wee bunnies" The women next to me was in shock but I just laughed in her face and carried on with her standing in shock. And Im sure she tried to set her dog on my ferret! So harry jumoed in and went for her fat minky dog sending it running with its tail between its legs then Harry chased her away barking and growling like mad. Sent her running too. I see her these days on my way home from work and I usually have my girlfriends GSDx with me who scares the shit out of her even though he's 10 months old and wouldnt hurt a fly lol I also get a few nice folk who ask me about it and encourage the fact that rabbits are a pest etc. and some bloke said he'd put a good word in for me to the farmer in his area to give me more work Atb Jordan

lurchergrrl 1,441
Well Hollie some people just have no taste, or are ignorant, or a combo of the two. I think a lot of people are under the impression that a fat dog is a happy dog Someone made a comment at nursery once about mine (when I still had my greyhound as well). I said come here on the field a min. Slipped them both on the crows and they took off like lightening, larked around and ran about looking magnificient. I said see, those are healthy happy FIT dogs - the way dogs are supposed to be. And yes I was bloody smug about it
sandymere 8,263
Some years ago while lead walking a number of racing greyhounds, on private land, a fella came by with a rat on a rope type mut that started yapping at us. The greyhounds lunged a little so I stopped, leaned back and waited for him to go. Instead he stopped glared at me and said " what would you do if all them dogs lunged at once?" I said " about 40 miles an hour now p*ss off you prat. Never saw him there again lol.

dogman89 0
i hate people who let there dogs of the lead and cant control them, bout 3 years ago this guy had a massive german shepherd of the lead were i used to go for a walk on saturday with my dad. this shepherd came running towards us and this dog would fight. my wee dog was off the lead and was standing by myside. the shepherd went for my wee dog and my dog gave it twice as bad back lol. needless to say i never saw the man again. The one 8,493
I always try to walk mine out the road and if i see any other dog walker coming towards me i will put the lab and spanniel in a sit and put a lead on the lurcher ,they usually say thank you but sometimes ask why i did that i repiy any dog that comes up to the lurcher barking etc she will take on . Other times if mine are off the lead and i see somebody with a dog miles ahead of them heading for mine i wait till it get to us and march off away from the owner and there screaming at there dog and it just ignores them .Last time i did that after 10 minutes i sat all mine down and let him catch up and catch his dog and he stormed off without even thanking me
